Thanks. It fixed the problem and installed the latest version of HP Soultion Center as a bonus. Turns out my printer never completely loaded or finished the last time I reinstalled it trying to solev another issue.

Hp PSC 500 - scanner doesn't work under Windows 8.1 64-bit

I have a HP PSC 500 printer/scanner but scanning does not work.

 

My PC is a Windows 8.1 64-bit system - and I connected the printer/scanner to the PC with a parallel/usb adapter cable. Printing is OK but no scanning... Printer/scanner shows a message "no connection to PC" if I try to scan.

 

I have all the updates of Win8.1 - so the system is up to date!

I see you are experiencing issues with your scan. I would be happy to help!

 

I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.


I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Hello layor,

 

 

Welcome to the HP Forums.

 

 

I see that you are having an issue getting the printer re-installed on to your computer.

 

If you have the printer connected to the computer with a usb cable, please remove it from both ends and lay the cable to the side for now.

 

Please start off by clicking on the following link for Uninstalling the Printer Software.  We want to make sure that the old software has been totally removed before we attempt to re-install. 

 

Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the computer so that all the changes take affect.

 

When the computer is back on, disable any Firewalls or Anti-Virus protection.  We don't want anything blocking the following download that I'm going to give you.

 

Here is the link for the HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers.  Save this file to the Desktop of the computer so that it creates its own icon.  This will make it easy to find when the download is complete.

 

Double click the new icon and follow the installation instructions.  You will be given connectivity options. If you choose to use a USB connection,  do not connect it until you are prompted to do so.

Hi  

 

Instead of trying to download one single component of the software, I feel it would be best to completely remove the full feature software, and start fresh again with a complete install.

 

  1. Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
  2. Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
  3. Download the software and choose to save as, save to desktop >PS_AIO_04_C5500_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe
  4. After the software downloads and extracts, open the temp folder again, use the instructions from step 1.
  5. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
  6. Open folder Util
  7. Open folder CCC
  8. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have anon-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
  9. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
  10. Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
     
    • Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    • In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
    • Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    • In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK
       *Note: there is a space between the c and the /
       
      If you have any difficulty with this step, please use this link to perform it another way. Restarting Windows Installer
     
  11. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tool < How to Delete files using Disk Cleanup
  12. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
  13. Restart the computer
  14. Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows

The HP Printer Install Wizard for Window was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.

 

If you can not complete any of these steps, please stop and post back to let me know where you got stuck. Skipping a step and continuing to the next step will not accomplish what we need to. If you get stuck I will help you through it.

I read your post about the printing issues you are experiencing, and wanted to make a couple of suggestions to you!

 

If every print out, from any program on your computer is failing, or printing incorrectly, the issue is probably the printer driver, in which I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting your PC, and then downloading and reinstalling the printer here: HP Photosmart and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers. If there was any driver conflicts, the reinstall will repair them, and you should be able to print without an issue afterwards! :smileylol:

 

If the problem seems to only be within the Libre Office application you are printing from, check our their support page to see about an expert there helping you resolve the printing issue in that sole program: Libre Office Community Support

I tried the reboot, and plugged the printer directly into the wall outlet.  I've also run the Scan Doctor.  None of these steps has helped.

 

As I mentioned in my original post, the problem seems to be with the Printer Assistant software.  I can start a scan from my laptop just fine, but when I try to scan to the computer from the touchscreen on the printer, I get a message indicating that the Scan to Computer feature must be enabled.  There are instructions to go to "Print, Scan & Fax/Manage Scan to Computer" in Printer Assistant, and to click "Enable."  However, when I try to open "Manage Scan to Computer," nothing happens -- the software doesn't respond. 

 

I have already tried a reinstall of the web-based printer software (but did not do an uninstall beforehand). 

c4780 printer keeps getting lost in computer with win 7 64bit

I install printer to wireless connection on laptop with win 7 64 bit and everything works fine until I shut down computer. When I reopen it the 4700 printer is no longer showing in my printers but the software is still there. Any idea's how I can correct this problem I've tried 3-4 times and it keep happening> I uninstall the printer before I reinstall it each time so I should be a fresh install

Hi Sunshyn,

 

I followed each of the fresh install steps you laid out in your reply to my message and still no joy.  Subsequently, I did a search of my machine's C: drive and neither PML Driver HPZ12 nor HPZ12 are found.  Not surprisingly, there is no PML Driver HPZ12 service listed under Services.  Can you point me to a download of the HPZ12 driver I have requested and tell me the subdirectory to place it in?  Many thanks!

I need help getting my HP2610XI to scan. I have had additional memory added to my computer, so does that affect wether or not it is 32 or 64 bit??
