HP Photosmart Premium all-in one printer installation issues

$

Hello,

Yesterday my printer stopped communicating with my network. After multiple attempts to resolve the issue I was unsuccessful. I uninstalled the drivers, cleaned the registry and removed all the files off of my machine, then reinstalled the drivers. The installation completes and I click on the HP solution center. When I do I get a message that states "HP Solution center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Even though the USB is plugged in and my network is working properly. I have no idea what to do to correct the issue. Thanks  Steve

Hi,

Please open your Download folder and ensure the HP Easy Start does not exist already.

if it already exists, double-click it to launch it. sometimes the Mac may deny the download if HP Easy Start is already presented in your download folder

The file does work as expected, I could successfully download and run it at this moment with no issues.

Hi,

What is your exact printer model or model number? HP does not have any HP Laserjet MF 3228 printer model.

May you refer to a Canon i-SENSYS MF3228? this is the closest model I could find to MF3228, which of course will not be located by any HP utility...

Please clarify your exact printer model...

Hi,

Please try installing HP Easy Scan and check if it may locate your printer:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hp-easy-scan/id967004861?mt=12

Assuming it does detect the printer model it should offer OCR capabilities as listed below:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-series/23903057/document/c04788799

Also using Smart Tasks should allow scanning to OCR, however as I can see it is only supported on Windows 10 PCs, iOS  or Android mobile devices..however, I suggest giving it a try from HP Smart on Mac OS X and check:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-series/23903057/document/c06211157

.

Please let me know,

Shlomi

Did you mean you are able to print from your iPad but unable to Scan/Copy because the printer display is blank?

If the issue is only with scanning and copying, try these steps.

Check if the scanner bulb is working. Lift the scanner lid and press copy. Check if the scanner bulb lights up and move all the way across the scanner bed

Also update the Firmware from this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920 and let me know how it goes

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Are you able to print from your computer?

Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?

Update the printer firmware

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. Refer to this link for help.

If the printer is connected wireless to your Mac, try the following troubleshooting steps-

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Restart your printer and the Computer
  • Try Scanning.

Let me know the outcome.

Welcome to the HP Community

Note: Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Let's perform a network Defaults.

1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch (Settings).

2. Touch Restore Network Defaults.

Then run the wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to the network.

If the issue persists, update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-envy-4520-all-in-one-printer-series/5447920/document/c02919168

Restart the printer.

Try connecting the printer back to the network.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Shlomi,

thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the solution 😞

With HP Easy Scan it has been possible to scan and search documents on my Mac Pro. Unfortunately, this does not work on my MacBook.

Furthermore, the scan with OCR does not work with the HP Smart App (normal scans and also Smart Task) and more importantly: directly at the printer with the normal "Scan -> E-Mail" function. That's why I chose this printer.

So if it is absolutely not possible to make documents searchable, I will have to send the printer back :-((

OCR is an indispensable feature for me.

Is there any setting I missed?

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Re: need driver download for Hp psc 1210 all in one

Welcome to the HP Community

HP PSC 1210 All-in-One Printer does not have drivers for Windows 8(64-bit).

However, Windows contains built-in print drivers for many types of printers. These drivers support basic printer functionality for most print jobs.

Refer to this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 for Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver.

Thank you for your reply.  In answer to your questions, I can print as long as I reset the printer and  re-add the printer before I try; same with scanning.  It seems to work one time; the next time I try to connect to the printer, my computer can't find it on the network; neither can the HP Utility app.

Regarding your solutions, it seems that there is no firmware available when I searched for software/drivers.   (FYI, tried the eprint method, but got the error message "couldn't connect to server".).

I was able to connect to the printer using the IP address, and clicked on General but couldn't find a place to select "IPv4 only".  No such options existed under network/General, at least that I could find. Couldn't find one anywhere else either.

By the way, even though neither Image Capture or the HP printer driver can find the printer, on the Printer's URL it says "Ready" and "Connected".

Try to add your printer to HP Easy Scan.

  • Update HP Easy Scan: Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, click Check for Updates, and then install any available updates.

Checking for updates in HP Easy Scan

  • Run Apple Software Update: Click the Apple menu , click System Preferences, and then search for and install any available updates.

Try scanning.

Hope this helps.

HP USB Update Kills Printer

$

Windows Update has been presenting the following update on 3 of my HP PCs:

Capture.JPGUSB Update  Note the really old date.

After the update installs my HP Photosmart 8150 printer will not work.  It uses only a USB connection (no Wi-Fi) and the system says the printer is not compatible with the USB connection.  All other USB devices continue to work.  I tried a system restore and the printer started working again but the update go installed again later killing the printer again.  So I moved the printer to a different HP PC and a few days later that PC got the same update which killed the printer there too.  So I moved it to another HP PC where it is working but the update is lurking there too.

I tried hiding the update on the first two PCs which kept the update out through some security updates but then those systems were updated to new versions of the Win 10 operating systems (V 1809) and the printer was killed.  Soon the third system will update to v 1809 and I expect the printer will be killed on that system too.  I've run our of systems to hook the printer to.  Yes, I know the printer is pretty old but it works great!

Any suggestions?
