, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Install the printer using Apple Software Update. Follow the steps below:

To install the HP driver through Apple Software Update, create a new print queue on the Mac.

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Example of the Printers & Scanners window

  3. Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign  to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable, or that it is on the same wired or wireless network as your Mac.

  4. Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

    NOTE:

Selecting a Generic driver option from the Use menu can result in limited printer functionality.

Select the name of your printer in the Use menu

  5. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

  6. Close the System Preferences window.

  7. Try to print, scan, or fax, depending on your printer functionality.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing a Mac Print Driver Using Apple Software Update for additional help.

Hope this helps.

No it has not helped. I even tried connecting both my laptop and the printer to my phone's hotspot to see if different wifi network would work, but it didn't.

If Sandytech20 was alert he or she would know that HP does not have a driver available on their "click"for the LaserJet 4 on Win 10. That is why so many are trying to find such.

The "check for updates" option doesn't appear on the Easy Scan pull-down for me.  The printer does show up in the easy scanner window, but when I try to scan, I get the error message "an error occurred while communicating with the scanner."

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

After reading the post, I did go through the software and driver download page for this printer and found that there is no full feature software available for Windows 10.

If you wish to continue using this printer on a Windows 10 machine you would need to install the printer using Windows built in drivers.

You may follow the steps suggested in this support document for - HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help you.

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!

Hi,
Follow these steps to disable two-sided printing:

Open the file you would like to print. From the File menu select Print. The Print window appears.

NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.

Click the settings drop down, it will usually appear as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

Select Layout from the drop-down menu.

Set the Two-Sided option as Off.

You may save the settings as a preset by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...

By doing so and completing the print job these settings will remain default till another preset will be used in the future.

Regards,
Shlomi

Schlomi -

Thank you - thank you!  Except for slightly different wording on the settings drop down part of your instructions (Mine is Mojave ver. 10.15.5 possibly versus a slightly earlier version).  It fixed my problem; I'm appreciative; and I'll save your response in my iMac 2 "sys mgt" notebook.

UNABLE TO PRINT ON MY PC WINDOWS 7 TO MY PRINTER HP INK TANK 315. IS THIS COMPATIBLE?

I can't get my printer to automatically print double sided anymore.

My printer has stopped printing double side automatically.  I now get instructions popping up to tell me to remove the paper and replace the paper in the paper tray.  I have checked the settings and there doesn't appear to be anything changed.  It still says duplex printing. Can anyone tell me how to get it back to automatically printing on the other side please?  Really annoying as the printer isn't in the same room as the computer so I have to move from room to room to move the paper and then back to the computer to press continue.  Funnily, it will sometimes do double side on subsequent sheets in the same job.

I would require few details to be able to assist you better

- Do you have any Anti-virus installed on your Mac?

- How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
- Please ensure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
-Note:- This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. Do not connect it to 5 GHz Network incase your Router supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, then the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Also check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Also check for WiFi interference and perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display or by printing a Network Configuration Page

Keep me posted 😋

Hey ShlomiL,

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it.

You were right! I got so much involved into the issue that I forgot to check my printer's brand.

I mainly use HP products and thus I was blindly convinced that it was their product. So silly!

Unfortunately, they don't provide any updates for this old machine! Got to get a new one!

Anyway, thank you very much for your time and assistance!

I keep getting error code 0x8007007e unexpected configuration problem when I try to print from Windows application now that a Windows 10 64bit update went through about 2 months ago. So, I tried to update my HP Software and Drivers by downloading the full package from the HP website. The download removes my printer's color/photo printing capabilities. HP, can we get someone to check and make sure that the Full HP Envy 4510/4511 Software and Drivers download on the HP website is  fixed? Please help. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything many, many times, but the problem seems to be that there's something wrong with the HP website download package.

My Printer 3835 connects through Wi Fi to the home wireless. My PC connects to the same wireless, and through an Ethernet to a switch (different network). As a result my printer loses its connection to the PC, and I have to use the repair software all the time.

Performing a clean installation of HP Full featured driver may help. Let us try these steps:

Clean uninstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.
  13. Note: Disconnect the USB cable if connected, the software will prompt while installation.

Check for any pending Windows update

Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & Security Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
