Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's try to reset the Printer here as it helps in removing any stored static electricity from the Printer which might be causing these issues.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  7. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  8. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  9. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  10. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, let's try a firmware upgrade: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

HP Print and Scan Doctor detects missing printer software or problems that might be resolved by installing the latest software.

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

You can also try root level uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers-

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  • Select your HP Printer
  • Select Uninstall
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  • In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  • Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  • Click on the “Drivers” tab
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  • Select Ok
  • Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  • Close Devices and Printers.

You can download and install the latest printer software from here.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers :)

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you getting any error when you print?

Are you able to make a copy?

Meanwhile, I recommend you run the print and scan doctor and it will automatically detect and resolve the wireless issues.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  6. Try to print. If the printer remains offline, continue to the next step.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution.Your feedback counts!

Blinking wireless light refers to a condition where the printer is not connected to the network.

Try the following steps to connect your printer to the network:

1. Press and hold the Wireless button ( ) on the printer for more than three seconds to start WPS push mode. The Wireless light starts blinking.

2. Press the WPS button on your router.

NOTE: The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes while a wireless connection is established.

If the printer connects successfully, the blue Wireless light stops blinking and remains on.

Now you can install the printer on your computer. Make sure the printer and the computer are on the same network.

For Mac-

  1. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners
  2. Click the plus + sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
  3. Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add
  4. Try printing.

For Windows-

  1. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your printer model, if prompted, and then confirm the operating system version is correct.

  2. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.

The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.

  3. If you need to change the operating system, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.

  4. Under the Driver heading, click Download for the full software package, or click Basic Drivers for other driver options.

  5. When prompted by the installer to choose a printer connection option, complete the setup.

  6. Try printing.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers :)

Thank you Sandy.  I wish the last HP update to my printer hadn't wrecked my HP ENVY 5660 world.  Thankfully you helped me put it straight.

When I am asked to select a printer the only printer shown is the old one.  New one is wireless and is connected but does not appear to be "seen" or read.

Hello KrazyToad,

I wanted to let you know that somehow the printer has 'behaved' and printed when I required it, so for now I think I will close this ticket and certainly keep your instructions above just in case.

You can't imagine how grateful I am to you and to all the people in the forum who take the time to help people like me, who have no idea about technology.  THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

And, even though I don't mean to be rude, I hope I don't have to talk to you again in a long time! ☺☺☺

Happy Easter, Arke

I tried all of your suggestions many times and it doesn't help the problem. In fact, uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers from the HP website only causes me to lose color printing capabilities. The option to print photos or change the ink cartridge from which you print is completely missing from the software package you download online from HP. I had to reinstall all the software and drivers from the original disk that came with the printer and have had to accept the loss of the updated features I had before the Windows 10 64-bit update occurred. And, the original software and drivers do nothing to fix the problem of not being able to print from a Windows application anymore. I still get the "unexpected configuration" error message and code. Thanks for trying to help, but I still need to find a way to get this problem resolved. I had a multi-hour remote access support session with a Microsoft level 2 tech and he couldn't figure out how to fix the problem either.

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Let's start off by running Windows update troubleshooter:

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Now run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

If you are facing any issue while using the printer then try using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to this link: HP Printers - Using HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)  to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

I suggest you uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them by following the below steps:

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and OK - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here to download and install the software.

You're much welcome ,

No worries, these are officially supported but were missing due to a technical error, not for any other reason.
