Re: Reset EWS password for HP Deskjet 2620

Hey Repairatrooper,

Thanks for your prompt reply but I'm afraid there is no such thing on the 2620 Deskjet. It has no touch screen where I can choose setup or service options. Neither in the HP Smart application.

It would be good to mention that I'm working with a Windows 10 Virtual Machine connected through the USB and I have:
* Updated the firmware

* Tried resetting the settings from there

* Tried changing WiFi settings

To no avail, only successful thing was the firmware update.

Thanks again for your time!

Printer gave this code right out of the box - 'hard reset' solution did not work.  Back to the store it goes.  Thought I was getting something better than the Brothers and Epsons - I made the purchase n the HP name.

Yes, it is compatible.

Do you intend to connect the printer wirelessly or with a USB?

For a Wireless connection, is the printer connected to the network already and the blue wireless light solid lits or does it need to be connected to your wireless network first?

The stuck print job cannot be deleted or canceled and prevents further print jobs from printing.

Step 1: Clear the print queue

Close scanning apps that might prevent jobs from printing, and then clear the queue.

  1. Close Apple Image CaptureHP Easy Scan, and HP Scan, if they are open.

  2. Click Finder, select Applications, click Utilities, and then double-click Terminal.

  3. Type Cancel -a, and then press Enter.

  4. Close the Terminal window, and then restart the computer.

  5. Try to print.

Step 2: Uninstall HP software and add your printer

Uninstall any HP software that might have been installed, and then add the printer.

  1. Download and open HP Easy Start.

  2. Open the HP Easy Start drop-down menu, and then click Uninstall HP Software.

    Clicking Uninstall HP Software

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall all HP software.

  4. Click the Apple icon , click System Preferences, and then click Printers & Scanners, Print, and Scan, or Print and Fax.

  5. Click the Plus sign.

  6. Select the name of your printer from the list, click the Use or Print Using field, and then select AirPrint.

Adding a printer and selecting AirPrint

  7. Click Add.

  8. Try to print.

If you still have issues, we will troubleshoot on the network front.

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results?

Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.

The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera.

Keep me posted.

Cheers :)

Printer network installation hangs up every time

My HP Envy 5660 no longer works on my windows 10 laptop. I have uninstalled every component several times, restarted PC, reinstalled-I've cycled my router off, rebooted, etc...I've cycled off my printer; however, upon reinstall of full device features software and drivers, it hangs up on network installation. I've spent hours yesterday and today and I need my printer for my business. I've printed from my phone with no issues...I've printed from the printer - My Congratulations! page that shows I'm web-connected as well as the Wireless Network Test Results listing "No Problems Found. Congratulations on the successful setup of your wireless printer"...I've researched troubleshooting, command prompts, HP print and scan doctor, etc...still just hangs up and after 10 minutes, I have to cancel network install, which won't cancel, so after 10 minutes, I have to 'end task' with task manager, and then start the whole process over again...restart PC, uninstall, turn off printer, unplug, turn on, reinstall software, nothing works! Any ideas? I keep seeing where HP updated the driver software 4 days ago on 4/11/19...has there been an issue with this?

In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

  4. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  5. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

  6. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  7. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  8. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  9. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  10. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  11. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  12. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

  13. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

  14. Try to print.

Also, try updating the printer firmware. Refer to this link for help.

Step 1: Connect the printer to your network

Make sure you've removed all the packaging material from the printer before setting it up.

Resume light being steady is a condition where there is no paper in the input tray.

Perform a hard reset-

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Load the paper and try to print.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers :)

Thanks so much ShlomiL.  Those drivers did work.

Out of curiousity, I see thatg these drivers are on an HP FTP site, but are they officially supported by HP?  I am very curious why they wouldn't already have been made available on the regular driver portal.

Unable to load driver and hp user software on my Windows 10 PC

$

We had a connection issue with WiFi and I've uninstalled the DRIVER software, went to the HP website to downstall and re-intall.

While the installation is taking place, the printer appears on my Printer list and I can set as the default. But, the installation never completes (I've tried 10 times!), and the last display on my screen is a big red X showing that the wireless connection was not successful.

BTW - I've had this wireless connection in place for about a year with my Windows 10 PC so can't understand why it won't work now.

After the page with the red X, I hit next and it allows for the submission of an error report, or to search only resources for help.  I hit NEXT again and am told  "no solution to this problem can be found at this time."  I hit OK and it takes be back to the Connection options dialogue to start all over!  and There is NO WAY TO CLOSE THAT DIALOGUE box so I've been closing it with TaskManager.

A shortcut is installed in my Start meny for the Officejet Pro 6835. Normally when I click I have the full array of options aavailable on the printer, plus ways to clean it.  Now, with the install not complete, I just get a dialogue box asking if I'll allow the .exe app to make changes to my device ... and then it starts the install process from scratch again.

Help!!
