Please try this and let me know if that may help:
- From the Control Panel > Devices and Printers remove any instance of your printer.
- Right-click the background area and select Device Manager.
- Within the Imaging Devices section, remove any instance of your printer and keep that window open.
- Open the HP Envy 4500 software and select Connect a New Printer.
- Select the listed wireless printer and follow the installation.
- Once the installation hangs on installing network printer go back to the Device Manager.
- Within the Printers category remove any listed instant of the printer or any listed Unkwon Device, then cancel the installation.
- Select a Wireless connection again and select your printer, then check for any difference now.
- If it still hangs repeat the same steps as above, but by deleting the printer from within the WSD Print Providers section this time, once again cancel the installation and try again.
May you see any difference or will the same behavior persist?

I knew it - I missed the method to check the device manager and use the "interrupt" method to install the software.

KrazyToad, thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work.
As I stated on my 1st post, I have a MAC with Mohave 10.14.1 update, the latest for my MAC.
When I go thru the protocal with HP Support, this is what comes up:
"NO SOFTWARE OR DRIVERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS PRODUCT WITH THE SELECTED OPERATING SYSTEM. PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENT SELECTION, OR VISIT THE PRODUCT HOMEPAGE."
I've deleted my 8600 from my MAC and tried to re-install, and NOW, it won't install. So I'm thinking athat the MAC 10.14.1 isn't compataible with the 8600 as it is now.
Any other suggestions?

If you want to use the media card less than 2GB and it does not get recognized,
Take a back of the date in the media card then format it.
But as you are using media card which is greater than 2GB, I request you to use a 2GB card to print.

Took me a while to get to this. Still no joy on the firmware update.
Here's what I did:
Setup:
- Printer power adapter is plugged directly into wall outlet
- Printer WiFi is turned off
- Printer is connected to Mac via USB cable
1. Removed all 5 print cartridges
2. Unplugged power cord from back of printer.
3. Waited about a minute.
4. Plugged power cord back into printer.
5. Waited for printer setup (which involved an awful grinding noise I've never heard before)
6. Reinstalled 5 print cartridges.
7. Reset of printer was slightly different from what you suggested, as there is no "swipe left" on my printer screen.
- pressed Wrench icon in upper right corner
- selected "Tools"
- selected "Restore Factory Defaults"
- pressed "Yes"
got message that Factory Defaults had been restored.
8. Downloaded firmware updater using FTP link you provided. File is "PS_7520_R1830A.dmg" . This is the same updater DMG that I downloaded previously.
9. Opened firmware updater DMG. Disk Image is named "HP Printer Update - Photosmart 7520 Series"
It's HP Firmware Updater version 1.5.0.296. It could see the printer.
10. Selected printer
11. Hit "Continue"
12. Got message "This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device."
13. Went to Tools on the printer and printed a Printer Status Report
- Model Name: HP Photosmart 7520 Series
- Model Number: 7520
- Serial Number: --
- Product Number: CZ045A
- Service ID: 24021
- Printer Zone (PX): 2
- Firmware Version: ELM1CN1409AR
- FW Patch Version: 0
- Country/Region: 15/1
- Duplexer: Installed
- ADF: Installed
What else can I try? It appears that the HP firmware updater is faulty.

To be clear, I after removing the print cartridges I closed the top of the printer and let it finish whatever cleaning cycle it does.
Then I:
- Re-set up WiFi
- Shut down the printer
- Unplugged both the power and USB cables
- Let it sit for 5 minutes
- Plugged the power cable back in and pressed the power key, let it start up
- Checked to see if I could enable Web Services. Still unable to connect to Web Services.
But printer is on our network, and can be accessed from my Mac via System Preferences, via the printer's embedded web pages, and via HP Utility.
I also tried setting up Web Services from the printers embedded web pages, but got the message
"Web Services Setup
Unable to Check for Firmware Update!"
I also reset the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1, but that didn't help either.

Is there an intervening firmware updater which would get the 7525 to where the latest updater recognizes it? I'm guessing that whoever set up the latest firmware updater assumed that the 7525 would have a relatively recent firmware version, so it's unable to work with what was the original (or near original) firmware on this printer.

Re: HP Envy 5545 stopped printing in color when using the wireless connection
I was hoping that the 6th time would be different than the previous 5 times. I followed everything to the "T" and still no color option when I click on printer preferences, when using the wireless (network) connection. It was there for the first two weeks I had the printer, and just disappeared a week ago.
Any other ideas? As I said before, this is a known issue, how can there not be a fix for it.

Had to reinstall software for HP 4795 printer and when I go to devices it shows as unknown device
I reinstalled the software for the HP C4795 printer and when I try to print nothing. I went to Device Manager and see unknown printer in the file.
How do I get the device to be recognized?

My HP Envy 7640 All-in-One does everything but print.
I have had this printer for about 2 years. To give you an idea of how much use it gets, I am still on my first, post-purchase, instant ink refills. So, I doubt very much that any is worn out or broken. I have it connected wirelessly to my HP Envy Desktop PC. I printed out several sheets roughly 3 weeks ago with no issues. Today, I was attempting to print a document and nothing happened. Wasn't even put in the queue. I tried all the common steps - rebooting my PC, uninstalling drivers & printer software, trying different documents, resetting my printer. Nothing. However, I can scan & print, copy and print, and when I was checking on my printers settings I found nothing awry. In fact, I printed out -from the printer - a printer status report. All came out normal. I did a network test and it determined my printer was connected.
So, the unit has very little wear & tear on it, it is obviously still able to print, and the diagnostic tests I've run sow nothing wrong. Wh, then, will it not print something sent from my PC - like I say it doesn't get stuck in queue because it never arrives in the queue
Any ideas?
