Removing

I updated Screenshot.pngsoftware a while ago, and after doing so my MFP wants me to choose (on a list) which device I would like to use whenever I start the scanner app. Either one of them on the list works fine, but it seems as if there is a redundant driver that should be removed - how do I do that guys.

Re: HP Officejet 4650 Won't print in color

I was experiencing a preplexing condition whereby my test pages and other internal documents would print in color, but any other documents would only preint in grayscale, regardless of settings.

I searched at least a dozen replies, videos, and other forums before finsing this answer. I had also installed and reinstalled the driver twice, and had also used the printer interface to search for and download firmware updates, not of which had any impact on the color-less state of my 4650. Also, from the responses to other answers on the HP forum, many people had also had zero luck in resolving this issues.

This answer, however, worked for me. The key variable was the "Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)" advice. Each of the times I had installed the driver, I had followed the onscreen instructions which had me run the installation through my browser. This time, I downloaded the software and ran it from Windows Explorer, and now I can print in color! Problem solved after only a couple of hours... Thank You!!!

According to the information I can find, the series is about three years old (introduced Summer 2015).

  1. If the printer is still under the original hardware warranty (one year),
  2. After you have completed the relevant solutions in the printer's  Troubleshootingcategories,
  3. Contact HP Support.

OR

  1. If the printer is out-of-warranty (more than one year old),
  2. After you have completed the relevant solutions in the printer's  Troubleshooting categories,
  3. If you cannot get the computer to at least detect the presence of the printer,
  4. Consider the printer is in need of service or more likely replacement (this is a low-end $30 USD device),
  5. Recycle the printer according to the rules / laws of your region,
  6. Replace the printer with a machine that meets your needs and your budget.

Re: Cartridge Protection

Hi,

From your computer open the HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 software and then click on Maintain your printer.

Within the shown dialog open teh HP Cartridge Protection tab and you may disable HP Cartridge Protection, if there is no such tab there than the feature is not supported by your printer.

Be aware that you may disable the feature for the printer to avoid locking cartridges to that printer in the future, you cannot unprotect a cartridge which was already protected on another printer.

Failed Windows Update for HP Printer

What is 9WZDNCRFHWLH-AD2F1837.HPPRINTERCONTROL?

This shows up in Win 10 Reliability Monitor as a Warning of a failed Windows update.  I have searched the internet without success.  The printer is set up as wireless and performs as I would expect very reliably.

Hi,

Do you have an HP Officejet Pro 8740 or 6830? you indicate 2 different printers in your subject and the post itself..

The latest driver can be installed for both by following HP Easy Start, you describe running a firmware update and not a printer installation.

HP Easy Start can be followed from below link:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

If you experince any further issue, what exact behavior or error occurs? if you cannot copy as well a such likely indicate an hardware related problem and not any problem related to the software itself...

Re: Scanning

Welcome to HP Support Forums.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer and scanning from the printer to the computer does not work. I read that the printer works fine otherwise and scanning works through USB.  I'll be glad to assist you with this case further.

During my research, I came across this HP document. This document helps in resolving network scanning related issues in the Windows operating system environment.

While troubleshooting, you may skip "Step 1: Confirm if the issue is also printing-related".

Secondly, you may replace the steps mentioned in "Step 5: Uninstall the printer software" and "Step 6: Reinstall the HP software" with the following steps as these following steps help in uninstalling the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them:

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Once you have completed all the steps, you may attempt to scan from the printer to the computer. I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted for further assistance.

All the best!

,

Good Day.  Thank you for reaching out to the HP community. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Remarkable diagnosis and good analysis of the issue. It is amply appreciated.

Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:

  • Did this happen after a recent power outage or surge?
  • Did you update the printer’s firmware?
  • Did you try making photocopies directly from the printer?

I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:

If it copies correctly, then the printer’s hardware is fine and there is no cause for concern. Perform the steps mentioned below.

To print a test page, follow steps from this user manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04725324 and refer to page#114 for instructions.

Then uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers at the root level by following these step by step instructions:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in the control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

.Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/za-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172328/model/7172329/swItemId/al-214912-2 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix the issue.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. :)

Sorry, tried two different times to remove all programs and reinstall. It always gets stuck when installing the printer. It finds the printer ok but then stops. I have an ethernet hub between the printer and the LAN. I will try a direct link but this has never been an issue before.
