Officejet Pro 8600 Firmware Update Problem

$
0
0

Hi,

I have updated my Officejet PRO 8600 - N911a with firmware CLP1CN1545AR .

It seems that has finished OK, but when it restarted, it shows the control panel with correct date and after 5 to 10 seconds,  it shows a BLUE SCREEN , with has an ICON OF A POWER BUTTON and below it, a string B865D004.

After 5 seconds from blue screen,  all control panel start blinking and asks to turn the printer off and on.

After turning it on again, it goes on the same loop (CONTROL PANEL => BLUE SCREEN =>  Turn off and on)

ALREADY TRIED ==> Uninstall ALL HP software, reboot computer and download latest from HP site and install it.

I was not able to connect the printer to computer using USB, WIFI or ETHERNET.

ON HPSITE, I have entered the serial number and it says that it does not correspond to N911a but to N911.

FACT:  Now, I have no access to the printer. Even to try to load another firmware.

Questions:

Does anyone has this kind of trouble?

How to revive my Officejet 8600 Pro?

is it possible to reset it to factory settings and load the latest firmware on it?

Any HELP you be appreciatted,

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, you're having issues downloading drivers,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

How are you installing drivers?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

If the issue persists, try installing Windows built-in drivers following steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,

Sorry, off the top of my head I don't remember most of the specific steps.  Google for a driver and downloaded it.  Installed driver.  Then went into properties for that printer as Mendac stated and changed the port to DOT4.

Thank you for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums! I see from your post that you are having issues installing the printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

Do you get any error message? Have you tried to install the latest Windows update?

Are you trying to install the printer for the first time or when was the last time it worked?

How are you connecting the printer? USB/Wireless

Are you ale to make a copy from the printer?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

To update the driver with Windows Update:

  1. Connect the computer to the internet.
  2. Click on Start.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Update & security.
  5. Select Windows Updates.
  6. Select Check for updates.
  7. Windows Update will download and install the drivers automatically.

Next thing, I would suggest a clean install for fixing this issue. Here are the steps:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Restart your computer.

Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.

Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.

Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".

Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.

Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.

Now restart your computer again.

Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.

Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.

Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.

Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.

Now click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-120-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5203208/model/5203209/swItemId/mp-109469-3 to download and install the printer software.

Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Thank you, Shlomil for your response.  I tried the update from the printer control panel and got approximately the same results as before.  The update progressed to about 4% and then failed with a retry or cancel message (retry did about what the first attempt did).  If it's a communication problem, I find it REALLY strange that it fails the same way each time...

internet disruption with HP7850 printer

I recently switched to an HP Envy Printer 7850.  Right after setting this up, I started getting disruptions in my internet connection.  They are temporary and intermittent.  I did a 'chat' with HP and the person claimed this had nothing to do with the printer.

I have been in contact with Comcast twice and although they have made adjustments, the problem continues.

Reading other posts, I think the printer is the problem.  How can this  be addressed?

Unable to connect to device:E NVY Photo 6200 series

I just bought this and am certain it works BUT when I was installing it all I renamed the printer so I could remember the purchase date.  Now I'm told the device is not connected.  When I click to print something it is trying to connect with ENVY Photo 6200 series, not the newer name I assigned.

In addition, is it possible to default all printing to plain paper and NOT the photo tray?  When it worked at first, all it seemed to want to do is print to the photo tray (I have no photo paper).

Thanks.

The bottom margin on your printer is 14,5mm (0,57 inch) everything that is under bottom margin is cut and can't be printed or copied.

See my comments below.

The best solution to this problem is to put your HP Printer on Craigslist for about $10 and you might sell it.  Otherwise, throw it in the trash and buy a good printer from another brand.

HP support is the very worst.  As you can see above, the solution to every problem is to install their bloatware.  Don't do it.

You are also correct in that the printer will always default to normal printing.

I had this issue for years - no matter where or how I set the default to draft (on the very same printer), I will always default to normal.

HP is trash.  Their computers are filled with bloatware and garbage.  Don't buy HP anything.  They are the General Electirc of tech products.  As you know, GE is a disaster on appliances...... same idea.

This is absolutely the best advice and solution.  It is the truth.
