Envy 4516 - need software/driver for OS 10.6.8

I need the software or driver for Mac OS 10.6.8. I called customer service and he said try downloading the one for 10.8, which I did, and it didn't help. When I hit "print", it goes through as if it's going to print, but nothing comes out.

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I see that you are having issues while installing the LaserJet printer on your Windows 10 system. I would recommend a clean install of your printer as suggested below:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
  • Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.
  • Now restart your computer again.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Click on  https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL32629/Im-80811-7/LJM1130_M1210_MFP_Full_Solution.exe and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • When did this issue start?
  • Are you getting any error message while printing?
  • How is the printer connected to computer, USB or wireless?
  • Did you do any changes on the printer?

Meanwhile

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

thank you for your advise. The first message I got, when followng your rinstructions exactly, was that I didn't shut down the printer correctly.

 

Second message is "remove and reinstall indicated cartridge" - the black cartridge that I've been trying to install many times.  I've even used a different new black cartridge.

 

As for the error appearing suddenly, I don't think so.  I replaced the color cartridges right before, and all was good.  The black cartridge seemed to still have ink, but wouldn't print, so I installed several new ones.  Yes, they are new cartridges - from Staples in your brand boxes.  Alignment? - checked many times - it clicks

 

When I go to system preferences, printers, check supply levels:

      "black ink level unknown"

Your printer is supported on 10.8 or later, no software exists for your operating system:

you may try the following workaround and check, it may work and may not... :

 

  1. Download and install below drivers package:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1770?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
  2. Connect the printer to your Mac and turn it on
  3. go to System Preferences > Print &U Fax.
  4. Click the plus sign and select the listed printer.
  5. click the Print Using drop doen and then on Select Printer Software.
  6. Select the HP Deskjet 6940 series within the list and press Add.

Now try printing using the added print queue and check if that may work.

Hello all,

  I have a new hp LaserJet Pro M402n and I'm trying to wirelessly connect it to a MacBook but it's not happening.  I tried the HP Easy Start but that didn't work.  I also downloaded the HP Firmware Updater but that didn't work either.  I did try to find the IP address of the printer on the screen on the printer but when I got to "show IP address" and hit yes it just goes back to the previous menu.  (This is likely my fault but I fiddled with it a while and couldn't figure it out.) I also tried what HP Expert said below also (downloaded the software and then went to Printers and Scanners) but I did not see the printer under the Use drop down.  Any help would be appreciated.

Please try following below steps by order, if you have an HP Print and Scan Doctor icon shown on your desktop be sure to remove it first so the special version to resolve an Offline condition will run:

Well, just to recap, as my first attempt to resolve the problem, yesterday I downloaded and saved EN5540 Full Web Pack 1119.exe from the HP site.  I then uninstalled all of the HP software on my PC using Revo Uninstaller and then allowed the Windows 10 updates to install and run.  I then ran the 1119.exe program and successfully installed the software.  I was then able to print OK but could not access the printer assistant.  At that point I asked for further help, to which you responded.

 

This morning, I have again uninstalled all of the HP software on my PC using Revo Uninstaller and again run the 1119.exe program.  Again, this installed the software successfully and I was able to print and to log in to my HP account.  However, I still had no access to the Print Assistant. 

 

I have rebooted the PC and the situation remains unchanged.  As the printer prints OK, I do not think that changing to the Windows drivers will be useful.

 

Do you have any further suggestions please?

Good morning, after purchasing a new PC with Windows 10 installation and reinstalling the HP7612 printer driver, I can no longer use the A3 format, which does not compare the available modules. I've already looked on the forum, found answers and analog replies (in English), uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, downloaded again the HP OFFICEJET 7610 SERIES DRIVER driver, following the instructions. All without success. The A3 format (and no other larger A4 format) is listed. Is it possible to have decisive indications to be able to print on large format, so this printer was made? (and bought by those like me who bought it) I specify that on the old PC I printed A3 without problems.

Please help! I cannot even test my new printer as there are no downloads for Software & Drivers attached to this product to install on my macbook.  I read in the reviews that this might happen, but was hoping this would have been rectified by now.

 

I am hoping that this is not a sign of things to come...   

 

Please can someone point me in the right direction?

I reinstalled the operating system and now have a windows update failing to install about USB errors that might have something to do with the printer install issues I've been having.  The error from windows update is: Hewlett-Packard - USB - 1/16/2017 12:00:00 AM - 44.0.3748.1716 - Error 0x80248007

 

Device Manager also lists two devices with errors under the heading Other Devices: Base system Devices with exclamation point icons.
