Printer won't work at all

Hi

I recently cancelled HP instand ink, and now my printer really won't work. The web sevices button is flashing amber, and the instant ink icon is flashing as well. Now the advice is to press the information button twice and it will sort it, but it has not worked at all. I've also tried printing from my phone, and again, that doesn't work, so it is definitely the printer that is refusing to work. 

Please, any suggestions?

If you have canceled Instant Ink and your end of billing cycle has occured, you can no longer use HP Instant Ink Cartridges.  You must go out and buy standard HP cartridges locally and replace them all in the printer. 

 

Then you are to return HP cartridges back to them.  All in the email you received like this... except the date is different.

 

Your request to cancel your HP Instant Ink service has been received. We are sorry to see you go.

Thanks Dragon Fur. 

 

That seems to have worked.  However, I now no longer have a desk top short cut from which I can manage the printer.  The one I have takes me to the device set up screen, which I have completed about 6 times so far.  without being able to get beyond the "sign in to my account" stage.

 

The properties of the short cut are the same as for my Windows 7 machine, which works correctly, i.e. Target "C:\Program Files\HP\HP ENVY 5540 series\Bin\HP ENVY 5540 series.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage.  Start in: "C:\Program Files\HP\HP ENVY 5540 series\Bin\"

 

Your further advice will be appreciated.

Hi , I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with , but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

 

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

 

As you mentioned after trying out the steps you are getting an error 0X00000643 on your PC.

 

Uninstall the printer by using Network Explorer and install it back. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the Network and Sharing Center. To do this, type Network and Sharing Center in the Start Search box, and then click Network and Sharing Center in the Programs list. 
In the Tasks pane, click View Computers and Devices.
Locate the printer, and then right-click the printer to uninstall it.
After the printer is uninstalled, connect the printer to the computer again. The Plug and Play service begins to install the printer.

 

Also, I suggest you create a new user account on your PC and install the printer software.

 

If the issue still persists try reinstalling the operating system on your PC and reinstall the software again.

when i try to print from my laptop Windows 10, i'm told the printer (HP Envy) is offline. I can print from my iphone using the same network

Please provide the following relevant information so someone can help including:

 

Full Printer Model Number –  

Operating System of computer -  done

Detailed Problem Description listing all network devices (routers, extenders, switches)-

Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless, Wireless Direct? –

Is this a Dual Band Printer that supports both the 2.4G and 5G SSID bands? -

Make and model number of modem and router(s)? -

Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns? –

Is the printer plugged directly into the wall outlet?  Do not use any UPS, power strip or surge protector.  Yes this WILL cause the printer to drop offline and print strangely.

Do you think the printer is going to sleep and can’t wake up? -

If wireless, when the problem occurs, what is the status of Blue Wireless light on the printer, on, off or blinking? –

 

Power off printer and router.  Power on router and wait 3 mins, power on printer.  Does it connect to the router now?  Do you have a valid IP address?

My printer is new, download the HP software that told me in the instructions, and I downloaded, I turn on the printer, I connect the USB cable of the printer to the PC and, the HP program does not recognize the USB cable, and the USB cable it's new.

You need to follow the instructions.  They say to NOT plug in the USB cable until told to do so by the installation software.

 

Unplug the USB cable.  Start the installation again and only plug in the USB cable when told to do so.

Assuming, based on your response, that you have "released" and run Windows Updates.  If that is not the case, please relate what you tried and in what order, thanks.

 

If the printer software installation had worked, you would have a functional shortcut on the Desktop:

At the very least, complete step 1.

 

 

If you can get the printer software to install (correctly) and if you have never done so, consider updating the Firmware for the printer (after the printer software is installed).

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others! I read your post and see that you want to turn on the network capabilities of HP Officejet 8600 printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

 

As you have already tried performing a factory reset on the printer and still having the issue. I would suggest the next step would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer.

The printer has worked fine until it said cartridge problem. I bought new ink and installed it - now it will not print the body of an email - it copies from the glass but not when I use auto feeder.

Can't print on HP6800.  Error message says "one or more cartridges are missing or damages."  No estimated ink levels.  Using Mac with High Sierra OS.  All cartriges are good.  Have tried unplugging and restarting printer several times to no avail.  Reinstalled driver as well.  HELP!!

I also need these drivers. Why aren't they listed on the support site? I have a bunch of MacBook Air's with no Ethernet ports or dongles.

I changed the ink cartridges and cleaned the printer. I still get the streaks.

Good Day.  Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I read the post regarding issues with the printer not working or installing correctly. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. Smiley Happy

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after a software or Window update?
  • Does it make photocopies directly?
  • Is it a wireless or USB connection?

For now, try these steps:

  • Perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://hp.care/2xTxCYE and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer
  • Then make 2 copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer to eliminate hardware issues with the printer.

If it copies correctly then uninstall and reinstall the printer software at the root level by following these instructions:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top. 
  • Click on print server properties. 
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box, 
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again. 

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2L2PLb5  and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

 

  • If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2o3acvH

This should resolve the issue for you. There is an associated YouTube Video on how to install the built-in drivers.

This should take care of it.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.

This printer was introduced around 2004 -- and is no longer supported.

 

You might be able to get basic print function for your printer using Windows Drivers.

In the "Install the printer driver" menu,

Left Column HP

Right column:  HP Officejet 4200 series

I recently had a client with this error. I had to uninstall, then do a complete power cycle on the printer. switch it off. unplug the power and usb.  toggle the power with it disconnected. Plug the power back in and then reconnect the usb or network cable whichever way you are choosing to connect it.
