Re: Printer problems following Windows10 1709 update

This worked, some head scratching. During the uninstall a 'windows stopped working' appears but closing the message reveals restart message. Entries under device manager "print queue"  (not printer queue). Under print server properties - drivers gives options of either driver or driver package when removing, also 'microsoft enhance print x64' and another won't remove although a number of entries were removed.

Many thanks for your assistance and hope it is of help to others.

Re: Officejet 3830 with Windows 10 can't install Dricer Problem

Hi Riddle,

When I originally setup this printer, I used the "New and Great" 123.hp.com/setup.

I've installed a bunch of HP's with this new setup amd It is great.

Using it again, after deleting all HP reference anywhere on the PC, (Its a Lenovo), it installs but only the scanner.

Used the "Doctor" with no result.

Went into Device Manager and only the scan is present, no printer.

Used my work laptop, it identified mand installed the printer.

So its going to be a MS problem but only related to this one PC.

Other than doing a PC Reset, any other thoughts?

Hello, – Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I’m glad to help with the printer install issues!

I see that you are facing issues while installing the Deskjet on your Windows machine. Please try the steps listed below to try and fix the issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
  • Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.
  • Now restart your computer again.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Now, click onhttp://bit.ly/2nDl7gR to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

That should help. Let me know!

Cheers Smiley Happy

Thank you for your reply.

Please perform a Microsoft Push Button Reset. This repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This can be done either while preserving your personal data and customizations, or removing all your personal data.

Hope this works out. Let me know. Good luck! Smiley Happy

I am experiencing the same issue. The driver installation finishes, and it idenfies the scanner as the printer, and the printer as the scanner. obviously a scanner can't print, but reinstalling still installs printer profile to the scanner of the M130 FN. I have found multiple instances of this problem in the HP support forums and NONE OF THEM HAVE A RESOLUTION.

My installation is a USB connected printer on Windows 7 64bit.

It appears the driver itself is faulty and needs to be updated.

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are printer stops printing around 20%. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • When did issue start?
  • Did you do any hardware or software changes?

Meanwhile:

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report and check if it prints fine.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow () to scroll to Tools, and then press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow () to scroll to Print Quality Report, and then press OK. The printer prints the test page.

Figure : Example of a Print Quality Diagnostic report with no defects

Check the Print Quality Diagnostic Report for defects.

Check estimated ink levels.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Home button () to open the Home screen.

  2. Press the Down Arrow () to select Ink Levels, and then press OK. The control panel displays the estimated ink levels.

I just realized that this problem is exactly the same as @geoffwi  “Windows 10 unable to update driver” of 10-31-2015 10:28 AM.

Should I try the same cure (it seems a little complicated and it didn’t work) or is there any newer/better way to handle this problem?

Re: PRINTER PORTS

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Would suggest to let the dirver install and select the ports for you (no need to guess!)

If necessary, please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

(could be simpler than guessing ports and trying to do break fix)

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:

How to Uninstall Download & Reinstall a Printer software

Hope that helps!
