Hello DVortex,
Yes, I have tried scanning from various application, including HP's own Scan and Capture. None of them find any available scanners.
Here are the installation steps I have followd:
1. Launch the installer and select Connect New Printer from the first dialog.
2. Select "Wireless - Connect the printer to your wireless network and internaet" and click Next.
3. The installer searches the printer but does not find it. It comes back with a dialog suggesting that the printer needs to be connected to the wifi and turned on etc. On that same dialog there is a question "what status do you see at the top of the wireless information screen displayed on the printer". I select th option "I see the status is Connected and the signal strength".
4. At this point another text box appears on that dioalog asking for the IP address shown on the printer display. I enter 10.0.0.50 and click Next.
5. Installer searches for the printer but does not find it. It comes back suggesting for common fixes such as ensuring that the IP address is correct, which it is. Here's that creen shot:

6. At that point the program goes to a loop: If I click search, it returns back to the same dialog after having attempted finding the printer again.
7. If I click Setup, this dialog is shown:

8. I have tried clicking the Show Network Setting button which results to text "Unable to retrieve" being shown next to the SSID name and password. This is expected as this computer is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. The printer is connected to the same router via WiFi.
9. On this dialog I respond - thruthfully - "Yes (the blue wireless light is on solid" and click Next. Another dialog titled Network Check shows up for a while. As the printer is not found I am shown another dialog asking "What status do you see at the top of the wireless information screen displayed on the printer". I select "I see the status is Connect and the signal strength". Again, a text window is revealed into which I can once again enter 10.0.0.50:

10. I click Next. The installer looks for the pirinter once again without being able to find it. The program returns to the screen I attached after point 5.
11. I have already covered what happend if I click the Search and Setup buttons on that dialog. If I click the Cancel button, I see a dialog "Search for Solution":

12. If I select the "Search HP Online resources..." and click next the software says it is downloading a solution for the error. After a while the installer returns to the initial screen on which I can select whether to connect to the printer wirelessly, via direct Ethernet or USB cable or Connect later. If I try the (correct) Wireless option again, the whole process repeats exactly as I have described above, without being able to install the printer.
13. Please note that the only way I can exit the installer is to select the option "Connect later - Do not connect the printer now. I will connect it later."
