Thank you for your advice and I went through all the steps but it's still not working...

My best guess is that the printer was connected to the computer wirelessly at my son's house...

Now at my house I can't make a wireless conection.

I turn the wireless on and off.. I have restored it to factory defaults... and even tried a wi-fi protective set up but for some reason the printer is Not connecting to the wifi in my house... Is there anything else I can do or something I might be doing wrong?

I can't understand why it would make a connection at my son's house so easily but here it won't at all?

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.  Can you try to check if there are any updates to the Win 10 OS?

Once updated, try printing again.

If it still doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the FULL feature software.

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:

How to Uninstall Download & Reinstall a Printer software

Hope that helps!

Unable to print or scan from my computer to HP Officejet j5780 All-in-One printer

I am unable to print and scan.

Print jobs get stuck in the spooler.  I went to services and stopped the spooler, shutdown and unplugged the printer and computer, came back a couple of hours later and plugged both back in and restarted them.  No Change.

When using the HP Solution Center I press scan and nothing happens.   In the scan properties menu it reads that there are no events for when the scan button is pushed and it does not give me the option to change this.

I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  It read that the printer is fine and a test page printed.  Regarding scan it read that everything is fine except for the HP Solution Center test.  It reads that the full software is needed to provide a solution.

I have downloaded the full software solution and installed it.  The computer shows that all parts of the software is installed.  For good measure I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.  I still have the same issues and the HP Print and Scan Doctor still says that it needs the full software or update.

On the printer's front panel under "error messages" it reads that computer is not connected.  My computer, however, shows that it is connected.  The computer can find the device to run diagnostics and is able to run the scanner to test it.  The HP Solution Center shows the printer is connected.

Any other ideas on how I may be able to print and scan again?

Re: 8710 Printer doesn't recognize Sitka fonts

Hi

Here's what we found:

How can I add fonts to OpenOffice?

OpenOffice.org uses the fonts that are installed in your system. Add new fonts using the Font management tools for your Operating System (for example in Microsoft Windows, you add new fonts via Control Panel > Fonts). You may need to restart OpenOffice.org (including the Quickstarter), to see the new fonts in the Font Name list box.

via this link:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/Software/message-id/108808

So you will need to add fonts to the Operating system following the steps from the original post and it will appear on the OpenOffice,

If you need to download the Sitka fonts, this resource from Microsoft would be useful:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50721

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all your efforts.  However, the HP Scan and Capture program doesn't seem to be compatible with the PhotoSmart either.  I have it for the new printer (OfficeJet Pro).  I downloaded  it for PhotoSmart and haven't been successful with it.  But, I will try it again.  I'm very disappointed that HP doesn't support the Solution Center.  It worked much better than Scan and Capture.  Thanks again.

R1525 were you able to resolve this issue?  I'm experiencing the same and have tried all the recommendations greenturtle provided to you without avail.

Re: 8710 Printer doesn't recognize Sitka fonts

Hi greenturtle,

Thanks for a quick response, but if I understand you correctly, that doesn't solve my issue. The Sitka fonts already are in my OS, under Control Panel / Fonts. The Sitka fonts are pre-packaged in Open Office. If I highlight in an Open Office text document on e.g. one line on a single page, and change its font to any one of the Sitka fonts, the characters in the line will appear on my SCREEN correctly in the Sitka font I've selected. But when I try to PRINT that same single page that contains a line in Sitka font, it won't print out on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710: the page won't print at all. I will add that the Sitka fonts are the ONLY fonts I've been working with that prevent printing out, and I've worked with all 150+ fonts that come pre-packaged with Open Office. I need each of the fonts I'm working with to print out.

Like I've suggested, this appears to be an issue of the HP driver not recognizing Sitka fonts. That is why I am wondering if there is a work around solution?

Re: Excessive paper feed

Hi ,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having an issue with your HP Photosmart printer printing excess of paper after a print job or when it's idle. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to open the tray and check for any obstructions inside the printer. If nothing appears, close the tray and make sure it's properly inserted.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, click here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/ps6520/PS6520_R1606A.exe

Once the Firmware programming Update has completed, please test printing again to verify if the paper feed issue has been resolved.

I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE

Keep me posted on how it goes for further assistance.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
