Hi Amy, I'm still here to help!

Yes, please click the Normal startup, and then restart manually. Once the clean boot is done, please do go ahead and install the software again using the Printer Install Wizard.

Keep me posted!

I'm going to send you the directions for the factory reset in a private message. You should see the message arrive shortly.

If this does not resolve the slow printing issue, there is a mechanical part failing and it might be time to use the printer as part of a floral arrangement.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you cannot print with your HP Laserjet Pro m125a printer. I am happy to help!

What happens if you try to print a self-test page, from the front panel of the printer?

Load letter or A4 unused, plain white paper into the input tray.
  • On the printer control panel, press the Setup button  .
  • Press the Right arrow button to select Reports, then press OK.
  • Press the Right arrow button to select Config Report, then press OK. The printer prints a configuration report.
 NOTE:

The printer prints two pages of information.

Figure : Example of a Self Test/Configuration page

Does this page print? Do you see any blinking lights on the printer?

In the meantime, please take a look at this guide, After Windows 10 Upgrade, Printer Problems Occur, and let me know what happens!

Hi Sunshyn2005,

I had clicked normal start, but then nothing happened.  I did not get a prompt to restart the computer.  At that point, I did the research and wondered if I should have clicked the other option (Selective Startup), and I wrote you back.  Over the weekend I had my computer turned off.  At that time, it turned off normally.  Then, yesterday, I wanted to send you  a note, so you would know when you came in that I still had an issue.  When I turned off the computer again on Sunday night, it seemed to turn off normally, but then it came back on again by itself and a BIOS error screen appeared.

That screen was white with a back background behind the message.  The message said:

"The HP BIOS application you selected is corrupt or missing.  Please install the application and try again.

BIOS application Error (501).

ENTER - Continue

For more information, go to www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

I tried pushing ENTER, but nothing happened.  The only way I could get that screen to disappear was to push the power button on the computer.  At that point, the computer seemed to go off.

Since then, here is what happens.  If I do nothing at that point, in an effort to leave the computer off, it comes back on after a while (not sure how long) by itself, and the BIOS error screen above appears and sits on the monitor until I do something.  This has occurred each time I tried to turn the computer off and leave it off.  The only thing that I can do to change that is to push the power button, and the computer turns off.  But then one of two things happens.  If I leave it off, it comes on again by itself after a while and the BIOS error appears (like before).  Or if I turn the computer on manually from this temporary-off state, then it boots normally, windows opens, I can get in and do work on my computer (including typing this message).   As far as I know, I could leave the computer on in this state and it would stay on.  (I haven't had much opportunity to test this finding, though.)

But I cannot turn it off and have it stay off because of whatever is wrong in the BIOS.

The only things that have been done leading to this problem is the cleaning of the registry (using CCleaner), and doing the first part of the Clean Boot (typing msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, pressing enter, clicking Normal Startup on the General tab, and clicking OK.  I never got to the part where I would disable all non Microsoft Services or do a Safe Boot or do anything else in the Clean Boot environment.  I never got to the next step where I would have installed the printer software again.

It seems to me I may need to repair something in the BIOS before I proceed further.  Is this right?  If so, what do I do?  Sorry to be such a high-maintenance blogger.

Thanks for your help.

Re: MAC print job stuck in Windows 10 HP5610 print queue

Hi

I'd like to be sure the issue is not the Mac. Can you connect the printer directly to the Mac, instead of to the PC, and try printing from the Mac? Another thing to try is reversing the sharing setup. If you can print from the Mac, try allowing the Mac to share the printer instead of the Windows PC sharing.

Please let me know if that works or not. This may not be the solution you are seeking, but it could help us determine the root cause.

I printed letter I typed  it came out fine. printer told me I had a printer failure -there was a problem with the printer or ink system. It said to turn printer off, unplug power cord, turn printer back on. I did, still said printer failure. they must program these printers to self destruct after 2 - 3 years.

Welcome to the HP Community ,

I understand you are concerned about your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer not being recognized because of because of its on board storage. I will be happy to help.

The HP Officejet Pro 8610 does have some storage capabilities built in, but it should not show up as a removable device. The storage built into the printer is used for storing the printer software/firmware as well as for things like the fax log or phone book, which are part of the printers software. When you install the printer on your computer you should see it only as a printer. The only time you would need to worry about any removable device appearing would be when you plug in an external flash drive into the printers USB, which shouldn't be an issue if your office has a policy against USB flash drives.

If this helps show appreciation for my reply by hitting the “thumbs up” below, or click the "Accept as Solution" button if I have helped you reach a solution.

I hope this helps, and have a great day.

Uninstalling an old C4150

My 10 year old C4150 has had it's laster printer head jam so now I need to replace it before I get violent with it LOL.  I remember years ago uninstalling the software when problems arose so I could do a fresh reinstall.  I located what I believe are the uninstall unilities on the original install disk.  They are all labeled like "Uninstall_L1_64" and L2 and L3 etc.  Can I still use these to clean the HP software off my 2 year old HP computer running Win7 64 bit?  I have read that I should not run the L4 file because it can damage an HP computer.  And I assume the ones that end in 64 are for 64 bit machines.

If I don't do this cleanup what harm cam come from just leaving it installed?  The computer runs fast and just fine currently and seems like leaving it be is an acceptable solution.  If those old unitlities cause any damage to my modern day computer I will not be very happy.

Thanks

This did not help. Here is some more information on what I have tried.

I removed the HP Photosmart Driver and all the HP programs that I could find.

I shut down the computer, turned it back on and within a half hour the saw same Icon that the same program has an update.

*****This update keeps happening (then fail) even after I remove all HP drivers and programs! What's up?!?

I shut down the computer, while it's shutting down it does this update again.

I turn on the computer, check the update history and see the same status failed message.

After trying a few times tonight to figure this thing out I now have six "Hewlett-Packard  - Imaging, Other hardware - Null Print - HP Photosmart 7520 series" "failed" messages in the "Review your update history" with today's date.

My computer: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, Dell Inspiron 5721.

HP Photosmart 7520 series, connected using WiFi.

HP Officejet Pro 8610 updates are repeatedly unsuccesful in stalling Windows 10

since installing windows 10 HP updates for the printer are listed as being available. the update history shows that they attempt to install but they always are reported as being unsucessful. So they keep trying and failing.

Thanks for the response.

For the benefit of any reader -- what I actually did was go to the HP driver download page.  Change my info so that HP thinks  I have Windows 8.1 (even though I'm still running Windows 10).  Then I downloaded the driver.   Instantly, my PC recognized that the printer was installed and it was very happy to start printing.  This made it quite clear to me: when HP downloaded a driver for Windows 10, my system did not work.  (Meaning, the driver is not actually compatible with Windows 10 -- needs to be fixed!).   When it downloaded the driver I'd need for Windows 8, Windows 10 was happy.   (I found this suggested workaround on the forum.)

HP Printer Support Doctor returns Driver Conflict for HP Officejet Pro 8500a.

Everytime my PC is idle for a short time, I lose printer connecivity.  To regain, I have to power the printer off and then back on and clear the print queue.

My printer is connected via my wireless network.  All of the network information appears fine.

I used the latest version of HP Printer Support Doctor which indicates a Driver Conflict.

I downloaded the latest driver from the HP Support center and installed it.  But nothing changed.

How can I determine what is conflicting with the driver?

HP 8600 Pro Plus Paper Size Mismatch

Copy doesn't work.  After about 2 minutes of gyrations, it comes back with 'paper size mismatch' error.  I've got 8 1/2 x 11 paper loaded in tray just like always.  I've tried different bundles of paper that have previously worked.  Scan works fine, and printing from my computer works fine.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To: Greenturtle and richardsonkane7

Thank you both for your advice. I followed them exactly. Unfortunately, neither solution worked and I am still not having any success installing the printer software.

Note that the Installation Wizard (hppiw.exe) recognizes a problem with the printer and tells me to download the full feature software from HP. I follow all directions up through “Step 2.”

The “Step 1” in the procedure tells me that my “printer is prepared, turned on, ink is installed and paper loaded. Now is the time to install software and get your printer connected,” which is “Step 2.”

I accept the recommended software features, and accept the installation agreements. The next window starts installing 1 of 3 but never even completes the first installation when it indicates that the installation failed. The details are the same error message I have been getting all along. Then when I click on next it tells me I can search online for a solution and submits an error report. The next window tells me to click “next” and a “Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure – MSI will be placed on my desktop. The HP installation Wizard starts again and the loop continues with no solution.

I hope you can make some sense out of this.

Download Manager

I have an old HP Download Manager program with files dated from 2008 probably related to mostly now unused 4345mfp except for its good envelope feeder.   Looking at an info page it shows support only up to Win7.   If it is not needed or used for Win10 would delete it and doubt if I really ever used it at least that I know of.

Does it still have any use?.  It seems to open OK but mostly to schedule downloads from HP which I have never scheduled.
