Re: Cannot install HP Solution Center Software on Windows 8.1

Hi,
Follow the steps below and check if that resolve the issue:

1. Open Norton and be sure to disable its Real Time Protection component before running the HP Software installation.

If your may have a branded PC which also include a Mcafee trial, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans. Click on Real time scanning and then on Turn Off. select till I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.

Now try reinstalling the HP Software and check if the installation goes as expected.

If the issue persists run the following tool:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/datfileremover/installdatfileclean.exe
And then run the installation file and check for any difference

OfficeJet Pro 8620 ink usage control

Is there any way to control how much ink the 8620 uses? My old HP OfficeJet Pro 7600 allowed me to separately control how much ink was used in addition to controlling draft/normal/best quality. The 8620 has a draft/normal/best quality in the print dialog box, but I cannot find how to control the amount of ink. With the best quality setting, the 8620 uses so much ink that it bleeds through to the other side of the paper and makes double-sided printing unreadable. It is also wasting costly ink.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that your HP Photosmart 5220 is not printing black on the network with your Windows 7 computer. I am happy to help you with this printing issue!

After some searching, the closest model I could find to your printer is an HP Photosmart 5520. Is this the type of printer you have? To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number

In the meantime, I would suggest to go through this guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7. (Even though the guide title may not match your issue, I believe the solutions will help.)

Also, I recommend this print quality guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 5520 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 5520 e-All-in-One Printer Series.

Hope these guides are helpful, and thank you for posting! :smileyhappy:

Hi again JPS67,

Seeing that the Doctor has been ran and the Firmware is up to date, I suggest contacting HP Total Care directly.  They have greater resources that may resolve the issue than what I have access to.

If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

Thanks once again for your time.

Unable to load driver download page.

I was called by my dad who needed some assistance to get a printer installed he bought fresh from a second hand store.

Anyway, I tried getting to the HP download page. The page however remains blank and does not load. I found some similar threads that availability to the driver pages is sometimes inaccesible. I don't want to get ahead of things (like assuming it's the fault of HP), and I also don't want to be a jerk (I love HP seriously)

But I have had very frequent issues in the past with multiple machines on different networks while accessing HP webpages. Either because of extreme long loading times through any hp web service. And in this case unable to access pages completely. Just a reminder that it might be a area of business to improve upon albeit a minor focus point for the people that run this company.

I read similar threads on this board through google searches that the same webpage (driver) page could be accesible through different international domains. I tried the german and spanish ones with the same results.

I tried accessing the driver download page for over 4 hours now.

Maybe it's just a issue with the driver page of my printer type. Especially since it is a older model.

Personally I don't know about safe alternative download methods to get the drivers.

Please post-

1:If you consider the fault to be at my end and how to fix it.

2:If there is any other way to get my hands on the printer software.

Hello Kim, aka , Welcome to the HP Community!

I am here to help you out with your printing concern!

As you cannot print from webpages, I would think that the webpages or web browser could be the root cause of the problem however, I certainly could be incorrect too. I think this way because normally when there is a printer driver conflict, you wouldn't be able to print from anywhere at all from your PC.

I would suggest that you try using another web browser, and try your print from there to test this theory.

If you would like to let me know which Operating System you are running and which web browsers you have tried, I will help some more if needed. Please let me know!

Hi:

The problem is on HP's end.

The link is now working.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Deskjet-D2400-Printer-series/2510721/model/2510766/drivers

Yes, I agree with you that there have been too many times in the last year that the support pages are down.

There should be a performance metric that is part of whoever's job it is that is in charge of the webpages (webmaster?), and there should be measurements of accessibility which should be part of the person's performance evaluations.

For example overall: Webpages never go out more than 1% of the time each year, etc.

I have found it quite unacceptible lately, and if this person worked for me, they would be on the carpet.

I was the commanding officer of a USCG LORAN station back in the 1980's

The mission of the station was to provide a radio navigation signal 100% of the time.

Anything short of that, and you better have a darn good reason why the station went off air.

You go off air too many times, how do ships and planes find their position?

I can tell you this, if my station had gone off air as many times as these web pages have been down lately, I would have been relieved of command.

Plain and simple.

Hi

There is no full feature software and driver for Windows 8 let alone 8.1. You can try an in-OS driver. Please take a look at the instructions for Windows 8, they may help even though you have 8.1; Install a Windows 8 Driver with Windows Update.

I hope this helps. :smileyhappy:

If you still can not get the printer to work with your computer, I suggest calling us. we might be able to get you a discount on a newer model. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

Hey Rainbow 7000.

I tried printing from a different browser, and it worked fine.  The page I was trying to print was on my online banking.  My internet security program was directing me  to a  secure browser to view the page.  I turned that feature off, and I am now able to print the web page.   It had always re-directed me, so I am not sure what changed, but this worked.  Thanks for your help - especially since it wasn't a printer problem!!

Problem Installing HP Officejet J4580 Full Feature Software and Driver

$

Hallo !

I recently installed a new 2T harddrive and performed a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my e-Machine Model ET-1331-g-05w. The clean install of Windows 7, installation of the e-Machine drivers, und 325+ Microsoft  Updates was successful. The System is running fine and protected by Kaspersky 2015 Internet Security. Please note this WAS NOT an OS upgrade from Vista to Win7 - just a clean-install of the original Win7 64-bit OS.

After creating an ISO and Full Backup(nothing else has been installed at this point) I wan't to re-install my HP Officejet J4580 All-in-one. I have the original CD but I know that it can only be used on an XP or Vista OS - so I went to the www3.hp.Offical  HP Drivers and Support downloaded the Product Installation Software for:

HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
File: OJJ4500_FULL_13.exe
Released: 2014-09-03
Version: 13.0.0

My printer wasn't connected via USB - the install ran for about 30 and when I asked to connect the USB cable the splash screen told me it was finishing the install but then it failed with a message unable to located J4580 Drivers. The install that place the Solution Center, HP Document Manager, and HP Photosmart ICON's on my Desktop - when I opened the Solution Center - it said that it couldn't communicate to the printer. The printer and USB cable work fine on my Vista Desktop, my Vista Business Notbook. and my IBM X40 running WP SP3.

I've also tried running:
1) HP Update Software Utility - hpsetup.exe
2) Hp Print and Scan Doctor - HPPSdr.exe
3) HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility - OJJ4500_Scrubber_13.exe

but the 2nd attempt to re-install failed too.

I then reloaded my clean ISO - and tried the Product Installation Software for the Basic Drivers

HP Officejet Basic Print and Scan Driver
File: OJJ4500_Basic_13.exe
Released: 2014-09-03
Version: 13.0.0

The Basic Drivers worked fine -but I need the Full Driver. I double checked and the WIN 7 64-bit is shown as a supported OS for the Full Driver - any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile installing  XP virtual machine and installing the Full Drivers in VM. If I go that route - it creates other issues such as sync'n file from 64-bit to VM, then switching back & forth between VM to process other work,  and then the issue of having to scan in VM then sync the folder to 64-bit side.

We upgraded to the HP LaserJet Pro MFP. Then printed a certificate of which you only have one chance to print online. It directed to the old printer. i followed your steps with the ports and redirected the print to the HP Laser Jet. It showed it printed fine, but did not print on the printer. It does not show in the queed items either. Do you perhaps know where i can look for this 3 docs.
