For the 79 Error you have perform Firmware update for the printer.

go to your country hp web page and download the firmware and please ensure full driver installed andthe printer connect via  usb cable for the firmware update.

I have the exact same problem.

It's as if the driver isn't included in what's supposed to be the Full package. Oh, the ironi.

There are various ports and settings to choose when trying to add a local printer manually, but without a guide it seems like fumbling in the dark, and a waste of time.

This could start to smell like a class-action lawsuit.

I remember something about pulling features post-purchase being very frowned upon in court.

Hi

From your description, it sounds like an issue with the service. Although this is likely an operating system issue and not an HP issue, I will help make sure the issue is not related to the printer.

Please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and let me know if the test page prints. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:

  • Connectivity :
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
  • Device Status Test : Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
  • Driver Check : Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
  • Device Manager : Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
  • Device Online : Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
  • Print Queue : Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
  • Port Match : Checks the port settings for the HP product.
  • Device Conflicts : Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
  • Ink Issues : Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
  • Print Settings : Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
  • Test Print : Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
  • Scan Tests : Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
You can also click the Printer menu to find the additional features such as cleaning printheads, aligning printheads, checking ink levels, and viewing advanced printer data for your selected printer.

Hi ,

I see that you are having issues installing the printer software. It gets to 99% and times out. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.

I believe after connecting the USB for the initial setup, the Universal Driver is being installed instead of the Laserjet driver, which is causing this error. Please follow the steps below to see if we can get you up and running.

Disconnect the USB cable.

Run the uninstall from the CD.

Touch the Windows key and the E key to access the computer window.

Right click on the CD for the printer, left click open in a new window, double click on uninstall.

Perform a clean boot before installing the software again. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Right after connecting the USB cable, follow this document immediately so you won't get the Fatal error again. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. After this is done the installation should continue. Then you can configure the wireless.

Test the printer.

Then you will have to go back and enable the Startup programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Have a great day!
Thank You.

Windows 8.1 Pro and hppiw.exe

Hi,

I'm trying to install on my new PC (Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit) the drivers needed to use an Officejet Pro K850 printer installed on our LAN.

From HP website I downloaded hppiw.exe as suggested but I cannot make it run.

After double-click it starts to look for devices and then suddenly exits without any alert.

Windows Event Viewer shows 2 new entries:

Application error: 1000

Exeption code: 0xc0000005

Offset error 0x0000196b

My Lenovo laptop every day tells me it found a new printer (K850) but when I try to install it it says I don't have any driver for that.

Any hint to solve the problem?

Thanks

Hi

I think this might be an issue with the driver. Please try an alternate print driver to see if the issue is indeed the driver.

To use an alternate print driver for HP printers in Windows XP:

1. Click on the Start menu.
2. Click on Control Panel.

3. Make sure you have it set to Classic View.

4. Open the Printers and Faxes folder.
5. Right-click on your printer.
6. Select Printer Properties.
7. Click on the Advanced tab.
8. Click on New Driver.
9. Click Next.
10. Select HP from the first list.
11. Select Deskjet 990c from the second list.
12. Click Next.
13. Click Finish.
14. Click Apply.
15. Click OK to close the window.

Please let me know the outcome of your efforts, I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi

Perhaps I have misunderstood something. The J4680 is not a bluetooth printer. How are you trying to connect, it doesn;t support wireless or Ethernet either. The J4680 is USB only. I suspect the issue you are experiencing is with the bluetooth modem. Can you connect the printer to the computer directly and  print?

Hey ,

I would like to assist you today with resolving the slow printing issue that you're experiencing when printing from your Windows XP computer to your HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer. This issue could be caused by a driver conflict or a USB Cable communication issue. It may also be caused by the printer itself due to an issue within the printers programming.

To start troubleshooting I am going to have you print a standalone Print Quality Report to check the speeds of your machine while printing standalone.

  1. Make sure there is plain white, letter-size paper loaded in the input tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, hold down the Power button, and then press the Cancel button () once.
  3. Release the Power button.
  4. The self-test report prints.

Graphic: self-test report

  • If this report takes a long time to print:  Than the issue that you're experiencing is being caused by the printer. Please ensure that your power cable is plugged in from the rear of the printer directly into the wall outlet. Power strips and surge protectors can cause printers to lack power and not perform properly. Should the issue persist, please do not continue troubleshooting at this time.

  • If this report prints perfectly: Than the slow printing issue that you're encountering is not being caused by your printer. Rather, there is something on the computer that is causing this issue. Ensure your USB Cable is plugged in from the rear of your printer directly into your computer. Please avoid USB extenders or hubs. Also, if you're using a desktop computer, please plug the USB Cable into the rear of the tower. Should the issue persist, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:

  1. Click on your Start menu
  2. Select All Programs (or Programs)
  3. Select the HP folder
  4. Select your HP Deskjet
  5. Select Uninstall

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the uninstall of your printer. Once your printer has been successfully uninstalled please proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Reinstall Driver:

  1. Please click here to download the most recent driver for your printer
  2. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
  3. If prompted, please allow the download to Run
  4. Once the download is complete, please follow the onscreen instructions to install your printer
  5. Do not plug in your USB Cable until the installer prompts you to

Once the installation is complete, please test printing again.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you! :smileyhappy:

Hello ,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I would like to assist you today with resolving the Firmware Update freezing issue that you're experiencing with your HP ENVY 5531 e-All-in-One Printer. This update issue may be caused by an existing programming issue within your printer or a power issue. Can I please have you follow the steps below to resolve this.

Step 1: Check Power:

Please plug your HP Envy directly into a wall outlet. Power strips and surge protectors can cause HP printers to lack power and not perform properly. Step 2: Manually Update Firmware:

If you're using a Windows computer with your HP Envy you can manually download and send the Firmware programming Update to the printer. Please click here to download the Firmware Update. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, there is an additional programming reset I may need you to perform on your printer. Good luck! :smileyhappy:

Cannot install HP Solution Center Software on Windows 8.1

I do not have the HP Solution Center software on my new computer, and I lost the disk a long time ago. When I download the software, it downloads with no issue (224mb), and when I try to run it, it extracts and opens up the install wizard. When I click install (Install and Exit are the only choices), it tells me that "The system cannot find the file specified". I have tried this multiple times, but have run into the same problem every single time.

Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

The HP Toolbox FX ( as part of a Full Feature Software) is not compatible with Windows 7 but only a UPD solution, full functionality is only available uisng compatibility mode with the Windows Vista software but for a 32-bit OS only, not for a 64-bit OS:
