Print and Scan Doctor doesn't work

Hi. My printer works fine. It connects via Ethernet to my router. I just want to be able to monitor the toner level in my Laserjet Pro M1212nf MFP. I used the Printer's control panel and found "Supply Status" in the "System Setup" menu. I think that's the toner level so that works but I want to be able to check it from Windows. I have Windows 7. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is supposed to let you monitor the toner level so I downloaded it but it doesn't work. Step 1 is to find my printer which it does. It identifies it correctly. I then click Next and the message is "Communicating with printer...". 30 seconds later I get "Unable to communicate with printer". I already tried rebooting the router and printer. So that's where I am. I just want a program to monitor the toner level.

Was issued new DELL laptop using WIn10/64bit from employer.  I am trying to reconnect to a HP Office Jet Pro 6970 series printer with a wireless connection or a Ethernet connection to my wireless router.   installed relevant software drivers etc but still cannot see printer and in the Device Settings I can see printer but it says driver unavailable for the printer.  I have tried all the troubleshooting tools, reinstalled the drivers etc.  I can print test pages within the printer web service page .  Same issue when printer and laptop directly Ethernet connected to wireless router.  I also have a Win 10 HP omen laptop that has no problems connecting to printer.

I just replaced a HP Envy 4500 with a HP laser printer. I want to take my old Envy to Best Buy to get rid of it. I would like to know what if anything I should do to the printer before I give it away?

Printer won’t respond, screen is black, power button not lit

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 won’t do anything at all. It can’t connect to anything, the screen is just black, the buttons on the side of the screen are dimly illuminated but won’t do anything, and the power button light is off, and no matter how many times I press it, nothing happens. If I hold it down nothing happens. If I unplug then plug it back in nothing happens. One day my printer just went black. And it’s very frustrating because it wasn’t even a year old and it just went black. Nothing works. Can’t connect anything to it at all.

HP Deskjet 2545 Ink Advantage Scan Software will not Install

I have downloaded and installed the HP Full Feature Software for my printer at least three times and yet it will not let me scan when using PaintShop Pro 2019.  I used to use PSP9 for years with an Epson printer and never had problems scanning.  And the scanning option is the main reason I bought the new PSP2019 software.  So I re-installed the PSP9 software since it always worked before and now I'm getting the same error messages from both pieces of software.  That tells me that the error is coming from something in the HP printer not being installed correctly.

I have not upgraded Windows for a couple of years and PSP9 was working fine back then.

If I try to scan in PSP2019 or PSP9 using the Scanner or Camera, I get the message that there are no WIA Device Drivers installed.  Yet when I look in services.msc the WIA drivers are running.  I stopped it and restarted it and rebooted and still get the same messages.

Then I tried scanning using the Twain Acquire option in PSP2019 and PSP9 and they both say there are no scanners installed.

When I go into Print and Scan Doctor it says the Scanner software is not installed and asks if I want the Installer.  I say Yes and it acts like it installs it but I still get the same error messages.  If I run the Print/Scan Doctor again, it says the Scanner software is not installed.  See screen prints below for the messages I get.  I did this install thing twice and that is enough.  It take almost two hours to download whatever it is downloading because of my slow internet connection.  If it is downloading the Full Feature Driver software called DJ2540_188.exe, I've got four or five copies of that from various downloads trying to get this problem fixed.  So I don't want to download it again because of how long it takes.

Where can I get some scan software that will actually install?  I really need my scanner.  Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to print a test page?

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Press the HP ePrint icon on your control panel display and select Remove Web Services. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Web Services, press the HP ePrint icon again, and then follow the prompts to re-enable Web Services. A new Printer Info Page titled "Congratulations" prints with a new claim code. Try to claim the printer again using the new claim code.

Also, refer to the document HP Printers - Having Trouble Claiming Your Printer? for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Windows 10 slow printing to OfficeJet 4500

Recently purchased laptop with a "direct from Microsoft" installation of Windows 10.  I downloaded and installed the latest driver software (V8.0.0) for my OfficeJet 4500 (which still works flawlessly with other Windows 7 computers).

I am printing wirelessly, but it is very slow, even in Fast Draft mode.  One pass of the print head and pause.  Another pass and pause.

Hardware : Ryzen 5 3500U, 16 GB memory, 512 GB M.2 NVMe

Observations using perfmon /res while printing : plenty of free memory (>5 GB), plenty of free CPU (SPLWOW64 is using < 1.0 CPU), very short disk queue length (<0.1), no excessive network usage.

What else should I check ?

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:

What is the Operating System installed on your computer?

Do you see the print job stuck in the queue or does it disappear from the queue?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Can you please help me with this as well?

Can't connect my printer Ink Tank Wireless 416 to the internet after I changed the network password.

Followed every single step on all the troubleshootings... Ended up with Virtual Agent asking me to connect to my EWS but I don't have the credentials...

I also had a big problem with the HP Easy Start, it asks me for the username and password for the printer when connecting to the internet and I just don't have them!

Please, please help me!

I'm desperate!

Printer "deleting" job after printing the first page - not printing at all if one at a time

Hi, when I try to print a document it's printing one page, starting to print the next then the job is being "deleted." You can see this through the "See what's printing" tab. If you try to print one at a time, it's just deleting the job straight away,

I have tried to contact HP to no avail,

It would also be useful if someone has the complaints procedure and contact details for HP, they're not readily available anywhere on site and I can't find them elsewhere, I'm going to have to go straight to Trading Standards otherwise. I will never purchase anything from HP again!

Thank you for any help you're able to give!

I tried to download first the Recommended section thru the HP website and nothing happened so did the firmware only as suggested and it said my printer was up-to-date. My question now is why if up-to-date do I continue to get the request to download  almost every day and it always fails to download? Very frustrating but thank goodness the printer continues to work.

What's next? I do appreciate your help though.
