The printer software is older - it is marked as compatible with Windows 10, though after four years, Windows 10 has changed quite a bit.
Not sure why there is no "install" button on the software. Your illustration is not what I see in the package provided in my first post (in addition to the missing "Install" button, the menu in your picture does not show the name of the printer). I cannot tell you why you see something different. Fonts are not usually an issue as (as far as I can tell) the installation package provides the Segoe font used in the software. ?
The printer can certainly be connected with a USB cable - the software installation is the same, however, the only difference (that I am aware) is that you do not connect the USB cable between the computer and the printer until the latter part of the installation process. So, you still need to be able to install the software.
There must be another way or an explanation that I have missed...

Here's what I suggest you do, to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Reset the printer
In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.
Turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
Try to Print.

My OS was at the most updated version. I performed the remaining steps you suggested up deleting and adding the printer band and it worked as you suggested without installing the additional package.

Cannot connect my printer to the wireless network and MAC cannot find it
I've been up all night trying to fix this:
I moved to a new country and so I have a new ISP. Everything is set up fine and all my other devices work but for the life of me, I cannot get my printer to work.
I've tried literally every single thing you can imagine (except I didn't get a USB connector so I wasn't able to use that). I used the WSP feature to connect; I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software on my computer; I've dowloaded the easy install - everything! All I get is the power button flashing, the wireless light flashing - my MAC cannot find the printer but when I access HP Smart app, it shows there but offline and uninstalled in the installation status.
Please help! I'm about to lose all my hair!

Click Windows Update, and then wait for the print drivers to update. Click HP, Hewlett-Packard, or Hewlett Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane. Click Next, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Please delete the file, from the @temp% folder delete any existing subfolder of the HP installation which begins with 7Z.
Next,.download and install the correct drivers for your operating system below:
Generally, installing such software through an MSI installer would not be recommended, the HP Solution Center software is quite more complex to be installed in such way

It has since been discontinued and in its place there is HP Photo Creations. Issue with my printer

Can you provide more details, what printer do you have. Ink spread is often caused by low quality paper. If you are using an inkjet printer colorlok paper will provide the best image quality. Words missing would indicate either a problem with the program on an incompatible driver.

I had the same come up on my printer I have the HP ENVY PHOTO 6234 , I have just replaced them the old ink as it was almost finished I tried print a document off but it came up with this about the ink ,so I checked the ink cartridges and found that the the replacements they have sent are not the right ones these are a bigger than the ones I received with the printer , I replaced the old ones again as they wasn’t quite empty and i now have my document printed.
so check the cartridges.

Re: Grinding noise from printer
Hi there, I have an HP Photosmart 5520 printer which is now out of warranty but not that old! Never had problems with it, but suddenly it has started making a grinding noise when I press print and then it often goes to paper jam. I remove the paper, check the carriage run of ink cartridges, load paper again, carefully checking on width etc but it grinds everytime. Tried the HP helpline and went through their suggested procedures (7) but still no good. HELP!

Hp laserjet p1102w driver software don't work
My laserjet printer 1102w stopped to connect to wifi network. Via usb to print is no problem. To solve the problem I downloaded hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20120831-50157036_SMO.exe , double click to install and I see it is extracting. However, after the extraction, nothing happened. I checked previous forum discussion and found this one:

I did accordingly, I browsed to C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution from Windows Explorer, double click HpSetup.exe. I clicked "add another printer", next selected correct printer series, then next selected "Configure to print over the Wireless network", then next. But the message box disapper and again nothing happened.
Does anybody have any idea what's wrong here? How can I get my printer wifi connected?

Try installing the built-in driver using these steps - HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
If the issue still persists, try the 990c driver -
1) On your keyboard press both the Windows key and R key together.
2) In the window that opens, type in the words "Control Printers" and then click OK. This will open the Devices and Printers window.
3) Right click on your printer and select Printer properties.
4) In the new window, make sure you are viewing the Ports tab, if not then click on Ports at the top. In the Ports tab, locate the name of the port that is currently checked. Write the name of this port on a piece of paper as we will need it later on. When you are done, close this window.
5) Back in the Devices and Printers window, click on Add a printer at the top of the window.
6) In the window that opens, click The printer that I want isn't listed.
7) Click on Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings. Click Next.
8) Click on Windows Update.
9) Once the Windows Update is done, click on HP under Manufacturer and click on HP Deskjet 990c under Printers. Click Next.
10) Give the printer a name.
11) On the next window, make sure Do not share this printer is checked. Click Next.
12) Leave the Set as the default printer option unchecked. Click Finish.

window 10 media does not work on this computer and I just spoke with a live agent and he told me that it's hp app. if the app don't work why is it downloaded on the computer? What other media app can I use to download my music on? other than this app. I was trying to use this app and help from windows is saying they don't support this app any more. Where can I get the support than I need?

Let's restore the network settings on the Printer:
1) Touch the "Wireless icon".
2) Touch the "Settings" icon.
3) Select "Restore Network Settings".
4) Select "Yes".
Once done, connect the Printer back to the network:
1. From the printer control panel, touch (Wireless). 2. Touch ( Settings ). 3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard. 4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Laserjet Pro MFP M127fn Can't install HP's latest driver for Win 10
Had to rebuild pc. Printer had on the previous pc build worked fine with full HP print driver. After rebuild (was a clean rebuild) I can't get the HP full driver 15.0.15309.1315 to install. Windows 10 does load the Microsoft driver and it prints but there is no scan software in that so trying to use HP's software. I tried using a 2nd new user acct with no help. Tried the Print & Scan doctor software from HP. No help.
Suggestions appreciated.
Forgot to mention the error I get during installation:
"A problem occurred while preparing to install software to your system. Please restart...."
