Welcome to the HP Forums :) I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.. I see from your post that you are having issues with the printer showing printer offline. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless
What is the status of the Wireless light? Is it blinking or steady blue
Let’s start by performing a network power drain. Follow the steps below:
Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.
Wait for 2-3 minutes.
Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.
Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.
Then turn on the PC and other devices.
If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE
Is the printer connected to the network? Check the wireless light. If the light is steady blue, then the printer is connected to the network. If the light is flashing, then the printer is not connected to the network. Go to Setup - Network - Wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to the network.
If the light is blinking, let's restore the network to defaults:
To reset the printer's network settings
1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. Touch Restore
Network Defaults, and then select Yes. A message appears stating that the
network defaults have been restored.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to print the network configuration page to check if the network settings have been reset.
3. Turn on the router and then run the wireless setup wizard.
Now, I would suggest here is to run the wireless setup wizard and then connect the printer to the network:
Set up the printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard
The Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up and manage a wireless connection to
your printer from the printer control panel.
1. Set up the printer hardware. See the getting started guide or the setup poster that came
with your printer.
2. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.
3. Touch Wireless, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch OK.
4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Now follow the steps to uninstall the printer from the root level and then reinstall the printer by following the steps below.
- Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
- Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
- Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
- Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
- Now check for issue resolution.
- If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Please click here to download and install the software.
- In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
