Hi Flower_Bud,

I've not been able been able to print photos in colour, since setting up the printer to my computer. I've tried opening up the photos in windows photo viewer, and paint, and it will only print black and white. When opening in windows viewer, I see a box come up to change settings, but it will not allow me to change setting from monochrome to colour, I get a message saying the setting can't be changed due to a conflict with another printer setting, you might be able to explain this? Here are some screen shots of settings!

I'm able to print from my mobile phone in colour, and when I print a web page from laptop, that to is in colour.

I hope you can help, it's driving me made!!

Many thanks

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

The following resource will help you :

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

So far I've tried shutting down everything: modem, computer, printer, and restarting in the same sequence. No luck. I have nothing else connected. When the phone/internet tech installed the new modem, he did something under "protected setup wizard" so I don't think reinstalling the old modem will work. I'll get back into your instructions this afternoon, but at this point I'm just furious.  At least I can print with a direct connection between my USB port and the printer.

I have completed all of these steps and the problem seems to be remedied for a short while and then the same problems start again.  I do not think the problem has anything to do with Static or Non-Static IP, I think there is a true coding error somewhere that has to do with printer connectivity.  Here is why, I can attempt to print from my Surface Pro 3 with everything on the printer showing it is in working order and it will not print.  I can then open the HP software on my computer and scan a document to my computer, using my wireless connection, immediately after the printer will not print.  I then go back and try to print and still nothing happens.  I have tried every single "solution" on here and some of them seem to fix the problem for a while and then the problem comes back.  Is the printer updating software on its own, reverting back to old bad coding?  I would be willing to bet that many others have simply resigned themselves to constantly restarting the printer after trying to fix the problem, spending a lot of time doing it, and then having the problem come back, instead of continuing to push the issue intil HP comes up with a real long term solution.

Welcome to the HP Forums :) I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.. I see from your post that you are having issues with the printer showing printer offline. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?

How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless

What is the status of the Wireless light? Is it blinking or steady blue

Let’s start by performing a network power drain. Follow the steps below:

Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.

Wait for 2-3 minutes.

Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.

Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.

Then turn on the PC and other devices.

If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE

Is the printer connected to the network? Check the wireless light. If the light is steady blue, then the printer is connected to the network. If the light is flashing, then the printer is not connected to the network. Go to Setup - Network - Wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to the network.

If the light is blinking, let's restore the network to defaults:

To reset the printer's network settings

1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. Touch Restore

Network Defaults, and then select Yes. A message appears stating that the

network defaults have been restored.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to print the network configuration page to check if the network settings have been reset.

3. Turn on the router and then run the wireless setup wizard.

Now, I would suggest here is to run the wireless setup wizard and then connect the printer to the network:

Set up the printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard

The Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up and manage a wireless connection to

your printer from the printer control panel.

1. Set up the printer hardware. See the getting started guide or the setup poster that came

with your printer.

2. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.

3. Touch Wireless, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch OK.

4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Now follow the steps to uninstall the printer from the root level and then reinstall the printer by following the steps below.

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here to download and install the software.
  • In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

This did not work. I had to completely deinstall the printer using HP deinstall software then completely reinstall before it ultimately worked.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Most of the wireless scanning issues can be resolved by performing a simple network power reset.

Here is how to do it:

1.) Turn off your computer, Printer and Router.

2.) Unplug the power from the back of router, wait for 10 -15 seconds.

3.) Connect the power cable back to router, turn on the router first. Wait till the router to initialize.

4.) Turn on Printer and computer, try to scan.

Let me know how it goes!

Problem with Windows update and HP OfficeJet Pro 8710

$

When my 4 year old Dell Inspiron laptop was auto-upgraded to latest rev. Windows 10, my printer, HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, stopped working. I spent 2 hours on phone with local tech support, then 2 hours on phone with HP tech support, then 2 hours on phone with Microsoft tech support -- printer still not working. Turn Print Spooler on, it turns itself off when we try to print.
Microsoft tech support said my WIndows installation was corrupted and I needed to reload my earlier version Windows 10, which I did (with MS support assistance). Still didn't help. In desperation went back to local tech support who said I needed to do a clean installation of latest rev of Windows 10 AND, get a new printer or else every time I load the drivers for my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 it will cause same problem and require same solution.
Needless to say I'm scared to load HP's updated drivers for that printer, lest the costly ($600 to date) and time consuming problem recur. My 8710 was working fine before the Windows update and I really don't want to spend the money for a new printer, What can you tell me to give me confidence that I should download the driver update and continue to use my old printer? Or do I really have to buy a new one?. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

Yes, I'm able to copy documents and the printer is connected by wireless.
As I mentioned before, other computers are running normally the scan tool, even an identical computer of mine.

officejet 4630 language suddenly changed to Polish?

After several years of excellent service my Officejet 4630 decided to speak (what I think is) Polish rather than English. I was not there when it happened. My wife said she pushed some button on the control panel but doesn't remember what. Perhaps the printer just decided to enroll in a language course and is practicing.

I found an article on the HP web site which says to hold down the # and 3 keys simultaneously while connecting the power cord but that did not work.

Any ideas?

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I recommend you uninstall HP print and scan doctor and reinstall it and check.

If you continue facing the issue, then there is no option to perform the maintenance on the printer.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution.Your feedback counts!
