Re: Re-install Deskjet F380 to Windows 10

Thank you The_Fossette for taking the trouble to help.  Sadly, I had a good day, it looked better on seeing your reply, but the route did not get a solution.

Dealing with some clarification, the printer (All in One) works fine. It did so until I had to reload Windows 10 and it still does so if I plug in to HP mini. Only, I mainly need to use it connected to the laptop.

The problem is around re-installing the software and drivers to my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop which is running the latest reinstalled Windows 10.

The file I am downloading is AIO_CDB_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe taken from the HP Support website.

In your proposal, steps 1 - 3 I have done several times. In addition, when I get the error, the software is removed and system cleanup takes place.

I followed your steps 4 - 14.

At 14, this failed: Namecheap.com stated the domain had only recenly been registrered and did not give me a download link.

So I used the official site https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-f300-all-in-one-printer-series/1129389/model/1129390.

From this download, I have Run, seen files extract, install start with check system, prepare system, review install options (I do not need Shop for HP Supplies/OCR for IRIS/HP Photo Creations/Bing Bar so unselected those) Accepted Terms, seen system check for updates, go into Install Software then after 2-3 minutes the MSI.netdevicemanager40 window pops up.

I have also rerun all the steps again but left in all the install options, to same effect.

'MSI.netdevicemanager40' box says

Invalid Drive G:\

then advises contact the support website searching for Fatal Error and MSI.netdevicemanager40

When I click OK on the window it proceeds to Uninstall, report, message HP support then cleanup.

It seems something is pointing the MSI file to a non-existant Drive G. Which was once attached to the laptop and to which I previously sent scanned photos and documents.

I have been through the Support pages and cannot find an exact reference to MSI.netdevicemanager40

Going back to my original question, I took a look at regedit and found three references to HP Printer F300. As the device is now uninstalled, I took the plunge and deleted those references. I have restarted the laptop, run through the re-install process again and reached exactly the same point again with MSI.netdevicemanager40.

In support documents I have now found instructions for

Re-register the MSIExec service and

Reregister the ATL.DLL file

I have no understanding of what these mean.

Is this the way to go?

8610 won’t power up. Any suggestions before the trash heap?

$

So my printer stopped working after 2.5 years. Won’t power up.  I tried all the helpful suggestions here and elsewhere.  The verdict, even according to the HP troubleshoot guide, is “buy a new one”.  This is disturbing to me for several reasons:

1. It is not that old (though out of warranty) and my other HP product is 10 years old and going strong.  Decreased quality? Maybe. Others have a similar problem based on forum posting.  I will consider extending the warranty in the future.  Edson offers 3 years, interestingly.

2. Throwing out this now useless hunk of plastic, rare earths, and glass is incredibly wasteful, and not at all green.

3.I don’t seem to be able to salvage the virtually unused cartridges, since they can not be moved to the changeout position.  Expensive and wasteful.

Maybe others have better suggestions for salvaging this.  It is interesting that in no case does any forum post suggest sending it to an HP service center. My instinct tells me that, while greener, it may not be cost effective.  I took it to a fix-it place and they were discouraging about the likelihood of economically repairing it.  Any thoughts?

If I buy a new printer, it will not be an HP.

Since the wireless support seems to be the problem with the printer driver, and since I want to connect the printer to my computer with a USB cable and not use wireless, is there any way to install the driver without the (for me unnecessary) wireless support?

Re: HP Deskjet F2280 Stopped printing after Windows 10 Ver 1803 update

Hi David

I have tried your recommendations and followed all the steps to the letter. Unfortunately it did not solve my problem.

All the latest Windows updates are installed. (Windows 10 Pro Ver 1803)

I downloaded the latest printer driver from the HP website.

I also tried to install another printer (HP Officejet 6700 Premium) and I had the same problem. All the software installs, but when I connect the printer's USB cable, I get a "Fatal  Error During Installation" after a while.

I think I have proved that I have a USB problem. I even tried to update the USB Device drivers, but all the drivers are up to date. I followed all the steps in the Troubleshooter, ie do a selective startup instead of a normal startup.

I even tried another usb cable.

I also tried to install the Windows Built In drivers for both printers, but I get an "Unable to install printer" error message for both.

As a last resort I updated my laptop to Ver 1803 to see if I get the same problem with the 1803 version on the laptop. The only difference is that my laptop's operating system is Windows 10 Home Ver 1803 64 Bit and the other computer's system is Windows Pro 32 bit. After the update was installed, Windows updated the printer drivers automatically and both printers worked fine on the laptop.

Is there anything else I can try or is the only alternative to reinstall Windows and start from scratch?

I have a Word Document with all the screen prints of the error messages, but the file is 25Mb. I can email it to you if you would like to have a look at it.

I have checked all the settings and the paper tray that the printer is supposed to be printing from all of them say letter and Main tray.  It still is pulling from the photo tray.  Have unplugged it as well as reset factory defaults.  Additionally, the photo icon is on the display and it used to be a print icon.  Have no clue how to change it.  Yes, I have been into settings both on the desktop and the printer itself.  Am at a loss.

I understand that you are having trouble installing your printer on your Windows 10 PC. I will certainly do my best to help you fix this issue :)

Let’s try to fix this issue by doing a clean install. Follow the steps mentioned below:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
  • Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.
  • Now restart your computer again.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Click on  https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL30777/mp-110020-3/AIO_CDA_Net_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

HP wifi network printer cannot be found

$

I have an HP laptop with Windows 10 Home installed. I had an old HP network printer which was wired to the network with a cable but it gave up so I bought an M477fdw with the idea that all our computers could print via the wifi network to which they are all connected. This is two work laptops that my wife and I use as we work from home and several laptops and desktops that the kids use for school etc. All but one run Windows 10. The wifi-router is the one provided by our ISP.

I got the printer to find the wifi no problem but when I then try to install the printer on the computers, the printer cannot be found. I find this very odd and irritating. Any ideas what I can do?

The printer last worked about a month ago.
I have not made any software changes.
I can't make photocopies, because the home menu does not appear, but immediately after inserting the power cable appear loading bar and stop with the error message: 0x83C0000A NOS LOADER APP
I can not use the procedure you recommended me to reset, because the home menu does not appear.
I already tried to remove the power cord for 30 seconds.

Thanks for support

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are having issues with the fax after the recent Windows 10 update. To help you with this issue, I need to know the following details:

1) Can you send and receive fax directly using the printer?

2) How is the printer connected to the PC? Is it over a network or using a USB cable?

3) Can you print and scan from your PC without any issues?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Now click on this link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ6970/OJ6970_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161.exe to download and install the printer software.

Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Thank you Greenturtle for the solution.  I am happy to report I am printing from the computer.  The only step that I would change is "Step 2" .  I went through this step a couple of times uninstalling and removing all HP printer references.

Thanks again!

Re: Printer Preferences dialogue screen corrupted

I am not an HP employee - also I have no degrees or similar qualifications in computing, but i have been managing and using all sorts of computers for decades so have learnt not to suggest something and walk away before I know it is working

While the common advice does not work - e.g.:-

reinstalling the correct, often old, HP package gives the garbage printing preferences as in the picture

uninstalling the HP package and printer and trying to add a printer form windows settings

only allows you to print - you cannot scan anything.

the only thing which worked for my HP deskjet F4580 printer/scanner/copier is as follows:-

a) uninstall the printer and all associated soft(bloat)ware, including HP support assistant.

for some items I had to use the install/uninstall tool of Microsoft for Windows 10 - at time of writing this is at "https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed".

b) reboot

c) clean registry and junk files e.g. with ccleaner and slimcleaner several times until no anomalies are detected

d) install the buggy HP software packagefrom the HP drivers website for your printer

(in my case the printer preferences were corrupted again but the scanner software was installed and worked)

e) replace the printer driver by the one in windows10:-

  • navigate through settings to devices -
  • go to printers and scanners -
  • choose the printer,
  • open queue
  • click printer
  • choose properties from the drop down menu
  • go to advanced tab
  • - select new driver!!

a wizard opens up -

click NEXT- you get the selection page for printer make and model

DO NOT CHOOSE HEWLETT PACKARD as make - those are the buggy HP drivers

CHOOSE HP - those are the drivers deleivered with Microsoft Windows 10

scroll down to the model of your printer - in my case HPdeskjet F4500 series class drivers

and choose that as driver

The Windows10 driver "printing preferences" feature does not have "printing shortcuts" but has the same functionality so you can change resolution, paper type, size, etc. - but lacks "preview before printing" and some other neat features of the uncorrupted HP driver

(you do not need the default app for the device)

Interstingly, my HP latitude running GERMAN language Windows10 has an uncorrupted driver with all the correct features.

ShlomiL, thanks for the response. I've been out of town; but I'm back now to try to resolve this.

1. Regarding the ethernet cable option, my computer has only one ethernet port connected to a simple modem. Does this mean I have to now buy a router (after figuring out which router is compatible with my internet service provider)?

2. Hooking up this printer wasn't a problem with my other computer, which used a simple USB connection. I downloaded the software from HP's website years ago. But that machine ran on Windows 7.  Is the fact that my new computer runs on Windows 10 the problem?

Error code

My printer had been showing this error code OX83COOOOA NOS_LOADER_APP that is causing my printer not to do anything except the error code.
I’ve looked at the previous comments and replies the printer is plugged into an outlet and is still showing the same error code that I have mentioned before I’ve tried resetting it but the printer hasn’t completely turned on because of the error code again that I’ve mentioned before so then the ink Cartages won’t even come out. Can anybody help me?

Decided to update the software for the 8715 printer (located wireless on network) when I looked at the support assistant.   Went throught the install process and last step it takes me to is the HP Connect page.  I already have an account so I sign in and it shows the printer but no way to complete setup as everytime I close it doesn't finish.  I can print from other laptop  & PC.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled and ran the HP print and scan doctor but no luck.  Help.
