first exe requests I select printer I wish to update. I select my one and only printer, but the "UPDATE" button is not highlighted for use.
I completed the second action using the tool and selected update software rather than install new printer. Went through extraction process print and scan doctor process, but still does not solve problem.
No error message

Can you try this alternative scan solution:
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Let us know if that works.

Thank you for getting back to me. I did update my Mac OS but that has only taken me to 10.0.2 not the minimum of 10.4 that I need. I updated twice yesterday and checking again this morning there are no more updates that I can do.

Scans but won't print
I am working on a HP Envy 7645 printer connected to a Dell Inspiron 5720 laptop running Windows 10 Home x64. Up until a few days ago all of the functions on this printer worked fine. I have checked that the printer and the laptop are connected to the same network. I can still scan from the desktop with this printer but it will not print. I ran the HP print and scan doctor software. It told me to uninstall the software for the printer, download the latest version from the HP Website, and reinstall the software. The reinstall went flawless but I still have the same issue. I can scan but not print. I uninsatlled again but this time I searched the registry and deleted any references it found for the printer and reinstalled without any issues. How do I get my printer to print again??

Deskjet Inc Adv 5525 and Windows Home Server 2011
Hello,
Couldn't find drivers for this multi-function unit. The site doesn't offer anything for Home Server but being recognized as Windows 7 it doesn't make much fun for the installer. It says the OS is improper.
How do I correctly install all drivers (for scanning as well) under Windows Home Server 2011 (or 2008, if that would work)?
ps Being a long time PC geek I found a temp folder that installer created, went to Device Manager, found newly added devices, pointed to the folder, and somehow got very basic printer support. But it's very limited and no scanner support arrived.

non riesco ad ad avviare la stampante. il computer non la trova. è come se non fosse collegata.
Ha sempre funzionato, poi all'improvviso non si è più avviata.

Hello, thanks for the idea, but it did not work. It says "The HP Imagine Device was not found".
Something else I discovered. I can USB connect and install the Envy 5530 printer to another computer in our network and then install it on my computer, across the network, with no problem.
I found the post below, thought's on following those instructions? I have other HP printers on our network that I can't afford to lose the ability to print to so wasn't sure what the "scrubber" all removed.
Below is what my device manager looks like if it helps at all.

Thank you SO much for the response to my query. I am most grateful and have looked at the link you gave. I am not particularly well at the moment and my reason for desperately needing to be able to use the printer has suddenly been solved by the London Congestion Charge people, to whom I am applying rather desperately, has been solved. After several weeks I have had an e-mail response from them which has temporarily solved the immediate problem. But I hope shortly to use your link and get the HP connected as it is ridiculous to be without a working printer. But VERY MANY THANKS for your time and trouble. This looks like a very useful site. No I can't install directly on my computer, that is the problem.
I currently have the Envy 5530 USB connected to my computer, I can print to it now, but since I was never able to install it using HP's driver download software, I don't have the full functions I once had. When I'm in this state my device manager looks like the picture in the post above.
This is the same with the HP 3050 I tried installing yesterday for troubleshooting purposes.

Are you able to get your computer connected to the network (wirelessly)?
This example will show you how it's done:
Connecting a printer using Wireless Setup Wizard
Once you have done that, can you get the IP address and then key in the IP address into a web browser for the Embedded Web Server to use the Webscan.
This relevant example will show you how to enable webscan:

I went into Windows settings, printers, and discovered my printer was not listed as a printer, just fax and pdf creator. No clue why.
i added printer and tested a print. I think all is good for now. Thank you.
