Thank you for the reply.

 

I installed HP Print and Scan Doctor, ran it and it gave me the exact same solutions that I already tried:

Turn of printer, turn on printer and try to print a testpage, that works fine but when I restart my computer or wait for an hour the problems start again.

Although, when I tried the first testpage the pc gave me an error: Can't connect to printer. As soon as I pressed the help button the printer started printing. When we tried a second time we didn't even get the printer to "think".

 

I also tried the second method you gave me and when I tried that, the printer does not even give me a "thinking" message, nothing happend.

 

The printing software also still does not open. I tried to run it in administrator mode, with short cut's, without short cut's but it just does not open.

 

I hope that you have a clear overview of the problem that we have with the printer and we hope to get anwsers soon.

Running Vista Home Premium, HP Solution Centre scanner driver cannot connect to my USB-connected scanner.   My 7280 has run OK since purchased and installed in 2007 in all modes: print, fax, scan and copy.   I have today been prompted to re-install with the latest software downloaded direct from HP, which I did successfully.   I have disconnected and reconnected the 7280 and re-booted my Toshiba Satellite laptop - without success.   The printer, fax and copier functions all work OK - so the Solution Centre software recognises the device OK, but the Scan driver cannot find/connect to the 7280. 

Any ideas?

I am not impressed with Photo Creations - it has none of the capabilities of the old Image Center.  And just as a suggestion, would it be so hard to add something to your setup to recognize HP printers, scanners, etc and install updated software for them?  I paid a lot of money for my Photosmart 8250 printer and Scanjet 4670 and neither is working very well with Windows 7. I will definitely look at other brands when I can afford to replace them.

Please let us know what capabilities you'd like in HP Photo Creations. We're constantly updating the software and welcome suggestions.

 

We're not involved in writing printer drivers, so I don't know if your printer came with an automatic update checker. A Google search found this page of 8250 software downloads:

Hi,

Have you tried following the HP Print and Scan Doctor by selectig Fix Scanning?

As well ensure the USB is directly conencted to your PC, not through any USB hub or extension and the cable is not longer than 2 meters long.

 

Additionally I would suggest installing the following updates and check if that may help:

If any of those does not help, I would suggest plugging the USB to a dfferent port of your PC, as well trying a different USB.

Yes, I have been using HP Print & Scan Doctor version 4.5, and recently the latest version 4.6.   On Scan Fix, the software stops at the second stage - Driver Check.   Driver is unable to connect to my 7280.   Same result was obtained after downloading your third suggestion, the ConnectIO fix.   Attempts to download the first two suggested fixes resulted in the same message - Not appropriate for your device types!

 

So - no luck, sorry!

Guys hi,

 

why doesn't M476dw have digital fax capability ??? IS this really so hard to make ? You have this option on 8600, 8500 and some others, but laser does not have this capability ...

 

Is there any chance that update will provide this also?

And have you tried plugging the USB into a different port?

 

Have you tried a differnt USB cable and checked for any difference?

 

A such may also happen due to a faulty cable

The reply did not produce a resolve. I get a yellow sign by the printer after installing it. Are there older versions of drivers that work? The disk that came with it only works on ME, 2000,win98 OS. HP products are good until you need help then its a elusive support method. Sure by a tech time for a one questuin issue convesation that only leads to up sales after I pay for the one time attemot to discuss it.

Hi,

Different models aer provided with different capabilities due to many reasons.

 

As listed by its specifications, such capabilities are not available for the specific models.

 

What will happen in the future, that is really hard to know.. however from my experience it is not likely to add such capabilities to an existing model which does not offer those as of now..

Which is stupid... If there are always 2-3 different versions of a same model, why doesnt the full featured printer have everthing...

Talking about more pricey printers like the one we bought...

Also the most problematic thing is that hp doesnt have an clear indication what is included or what the included thing means.... Its hard to find a printer that has this features without going thru the manuals of eachone!

Hello again,

 

Yes, I have tried using another USB port but I still get the same error message "An error has occured when trying to connect.... etc".    I cannot think that there can be any problem with the USB cable itself, since the printer connects to the PC and works in all three other modes (print, fax and copy), as I have already explained.

 

So, no scanning still no longer works, even with the latest version of HP Solution Centre software - sorry!

Hi, I've just bought a new HP laptop and can't get my HP PSC 2355 printer to work with it.  I've tried looking for drivers online by using the HP Printer Install Wizard but isn't working as it doesn't seem to be able to find any.

 

Can anyone help please?  With my last laptop (also an HP), I just connected the printer and it automatically found what was needed.  This one doesn't seem to want to know....

Hi RocketLife - the feature I am looking for was called album printing. It allowed you to select a number of pictures and print them in a variety of arrangements on whatever size paper you wanted.  If you used 8 x 11 paper it would give you options similar to the photo sheets you got from school pictures. It was awesome for sharing with relatives who aren't computer savy. I've been looking for replacement programs and they all seem to use the same (ultra lame) interface and I have to manually tell it to use the photo tray for the 4 x 6 size paper - it used to be automatic. But thanks for asking.

I am using an hp dv8t laptop, window 7, 64 bit.

My hp a.i.o. photosmart b209a wont install a driver.

I have used the orig cd to install but I get a no driver message.

I went to hp's web site & downloaded the software &

get the same message. Virus software disabled during install.

Does anyone have a clue?

Please help!

I can see there have been many others with the same annoying problem, but I can not seem to stop the 'Non-HP Ink cartridge"message coming up on my computer constantly, even when I'm not printing anything! 

Whenever I am on my computer, the message comes up every 5 seconds. I can't get anything done!

I tried unchecking the "Enable bidirectional support" box under "Ports", (as per one of the answers here) but it hasn't worked. 

I am wondering if I turned my computer off and on again, would that work? I have a HP Pavillion 23 computer.

Surely I don't have to unplug my printer every time I'm on my computer and go through this rubbish whenever I need to scan or print something?

This is beyond frustrating!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I tried it but I already have Windows Update set to automatic.  I can't even try and set it up manually as the laptop doesn't even recognise that the printer is connected.  It doesn't show at all in Devices and Printers.

 

Do you know if this is a common thing for this type of printer and Windows 8.1?  I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to get it working......

Hi,

 

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 with a 64-bit operating system and I am experiencing an issue with the HP Printer Assistant, in that it will not open when I click on the desktop icon, nor when I go to the HP folder located in All Programs and select it from there.

 

My son's laptop, however, will open it without any problems at all. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the full feature software and drivers from the HP website, but that makes no difference whatsoever. The All-in-One device itself works fine; I can print from it and also use the scan icon in the HP folder in All Programs, but I prefer to use the Printer Assistant as it gives me many more options. The last time I ran it, it worked fine and that was only a couple of months ago.

 

I would appreciate any help, as this is starting to get frustrating and irritating; this is the first time that I have had any sort of trouble with an HP product and, hopefully, there will be someone out there who can solve this issue.
