I had already tried nearly all the steps suggested on the link, except deleting the temporary files and the background programs when reinstalling. Nothing has changed, the printer does not exist in the device manager.
So I am attempting a different approach: I just bought for cheap on Ebay a print server especially for AIO devices. Hopefully I can just connect it per ethernet to the laptop and it will recognize the USB from the printer.
But computer problems are like fighting Hydra. I just discovered an apparently corrupted driver for the R49651 3C920 Integrated Lan Driver. I downloaded the file, reinstalled it and the network controller continues with the yellow question mark.
I will laugh out loud, if I will have a print server connecting to the printer, and then instead the ethernet connection won't work....
Thanks for the moment. If I cannot solve the problem, once I have the print server, I will come back here.
