I have read about the issue you are having with the printer software, and would like to help you the best I can. I am unsure if you had fully uninstalled the printer before you upgraded to Windows 8.1, and then installed it new on the 8.1, however that is the recommended process. At this point, I am going to suggest a complete uninstall, and then reinstall the printer. Here are the tools and links for you.

 

 

First of all, run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to search and fix printing problems. This may correct the problem alone. If not, please move on to the next steps.

 

1. Uninstall: Uninstalling the Printer Software

2. Restart your computer

3. Reinstall: HP Deskjet and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers
