Nope. I've done the simple things like reinstalling, etc, already. This is a problem of the driver reporting itself as something other than what it truly is. My printer is not a "HP 5200 Series". It is a "HP 5250", and that's what the software expects to see. I'm amazed that HP software wouldn't know that the 5250 is part of the 5200 series, but I didn't write the app, so I can't comment on that...
Here's the response I get from HP Photosmart Essentials after I drop the CD/DVD tray, and load a disk into it...
So, do I need to manually edit all instances in the registry that say "HP Photosmart 5200 Series" to read "HP Photosmart 5250"? Or is there a patch that does this perhaps? Because there's no way to specify what you want the driver to report the printer as at installation.
