I have a new 8600 Pro N911g with the "basic" drivers installed, and the printer is on my home network. I am printing to it from a Win 7 Pro 64-bit PC, and eventually my wife will want to print to it from her Apple MacBook Pro with OS X.
What happens if I follow the instructions at
and install the drivers for an 8500 Pro A909g as "New Driver"? I would like the 8500 drivers to be there as an alternate option for printing to the new 8600. (On my Win 7 Pro 64-bit PC.)
A) Will that screw up the initial drivers for the 8600?
B) I want the old 8500 drivers available because they have printing presets and printing preview, and HP in its greed, laziness and poor software skills got rid of them for the 8600. (But of course HP has plenty of junkware to shove onto my PC.) Is there a better way to get printing presets and printing preview for the 8600?
(You think I'm being too harsh? Our old D145 AIO printer had manual color balance changes, but they were deleted for the 8500. Now the 8500's printing presets and printing preview have been deleted from the 8600. Although I loyally bought the 8600 as our third HP printer, it seems HP has treated me as a sucker.)
