A recall is a great idea. I have spent far more time cleaning the printheads than printing and the printer is currently pring light grey when it should be printing black. The black HP XL cartridge was purchased only a few months ago and shows that its nearly full. It was printing black only a week or 2 ago. I would doubt I have printed more than a 500-1000 pages with the printer since I purchased it new. It gets uses a few times a week a few pages each time. I've babied it. From what I've seen and heard the printheads also wear out prematurely. The printer is about 14 months old and it seems to be on its way out. Maybe its needs new printheads now and I should have to pay another $100?. I wouldn't recommend HP printer to anyone. HP needs to have a recall or replace the printheads. This is a big boat anchor, not a printer. I've had loads of printers over years, hps, lexmark, cannon, epsons. So far this one has required the most maintenence and been the least dependable, and the hp ink caqrtridges are not exactly cheap either.
