I still use an HP PSC 1410 All in one, my software was running on XP. I had to switch to Windos 7 with y laptop, downloaded the HP driver software from their site (which worked, although it needed 350 something MB) and started the installation. When it came to the point to connect the computer with the printer (and YES, the printer was switched ON ;-) ) nothing happened. Obviously, the system did not recognize that the printer is there, and thus the installation was not completed. Getting "HELP", it said I should go back (well), and click "Printer connected" (or something similar). I could go back, but there was not such an option. Well, shutting down the system, and do the procedure all over again. That did not help. I need support - I still like this printer-scanner-... - it is a very reliable product.
Could anyone get me a hand here, because from time to time I need printouts do do my work, since the steering into a lapdop computer screen drives me crazy :-)
