Since updating to Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra), I can no longer print photos with the photo tray. Is there going to be an updated driver soon? The download page is showing only up to 10.11. Currently I have driver v. 4.2.2.
Please, I hope the update for 10.12 comes out soon! Need to print passport photo for renewal.
Shows color cartridge installed, but not black. Both cartridges are new, protective tape removed, tried multiple times to remove and reload. Prints fine, but using color cartridge for black ink. Keep getting message: "Printing in back up mode." Tried all I know, including ckg settings, cleaning, alligning, etc. Please help! Can't afford more delays for an important time-sensitive project! Thank you!

It is not clear if your printer is in warranty ..
Anyways .. when we say clean uninstall/reinstall , it does mean that we have to clean any printers available in the registry ...
in the registry you have to go to computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current ControlSet\Control\print and on expanding that folder (print) you might find the name of HP 8600 .. delete that ..
Similarly in all such instances of the printer, better to delete .. remove any driver from device and printers folder as well ..
and also from programs and features.. in control panel.
Download the full feature of the printer driver from hp,com..
Please reply as to what the outcome is.

HP Printer Drivers 5.0 are the drivers provided via Apple Software Update, it simply a pcakge with all the drivers for any supported HP printer via ASU as described in the link itself:

It should be downloaded automatically once adding the printer, it can be installed manually from the following link as you mention it was not offered by the store.
Once installing both the ASU Drivers and the HP Easy Scan application, it provide the same functionality as teh HP Full Feature software available via hp.com.
As the operating system is too new a full feature software and drivers will become available during the next weeks for the different printers, however following the steps above provides the same functionality as those will offer..

Try following therse steps to change the tray selection:
From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized, Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
To select the Input Tray, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
Set the Source option as the desired Input Tray and try printing.
If it still fails try re-adding the printer as following, be sure to select the printer model rather than AirPrint:
Tried the reg item still no luck. The HP scan doctor sees the item talks to it and installs software and then finishes, but it only really installs HP Update never completes any other software loads. As I said I load fine a HP 6920 printer with no issues.
I did not ask you the model of the printer, but i am sending a link to show the full version of the printer. You have to download the full version and then check ..
if you have tried that as well , then you may call HP support @ 1-800-474-6836 , choose the printers department.. they will take the remote access and help you with the installation.

Printer is printing lightly but will not copy. cartriges are full.
Called the windows event log says the main msi file fails to run. So they are researching the issue.
Are there any other specific directions needed to install.
How do i remove my printer from it's error state? That's the whole point of this fix?
I'm getting an error message:
Just purchased an HP4520 all in one printer for my Mac computer.
Installed the correct driver for a Mac. Printer connecter wireless to my mac but it refuses to print, no error messages.
Note: it does print the Network config page and everything looks ok.

I m downloading and installing Printer driver thru USB online. The installation has taken around 20 hrs but still continuing.Dont know whether to stop or let it continue but for how long?
