Re: HP Officejet 4650 Won't print in color

~ Your method worked for me, but when I first checked windows update for the HP ENVY 7640 driver it did not want to show up and kept giving me an error. So I downloaded it & installed it manually from the HP website, however it won't go any further than trying & failing to connect to the wireless, despite entering the host name, since it is not the same as the HP OfficeJet 4650 driver, (I have HP instant Ink so I need to use wireless).

~ Afterwards you can go back to update the new driver and keep following the procedures. The only new driver needed is the one that says "HP ENVY 7640 series", to bring back the color option in the Print-->Preferences-->Paper/Quality tab. You may have to restart your computer after following all the procedures for the driver to finally go through.

Hi,

Reinstalling the HP Software won’t help if Symantec Firewall blocks the communication, it will still block it after reinstalling.

I suggest contacting Symantec for help configuring the firewall software not to block the network communication between the HP Software and the printer, an exception rules needs to be configured within Symantec’s software.

Hi,

There is no possibility to install printer using TCP/IP as the printer has only USB port.

Well, I've reinstalled OS (Windows Embedded Standard 7) and now the behavior is completely different.

Printer function works well, but it is not possible to install drivers for scanner.

I'm getting errors whenever i'm trying to install with HP installed or via Windows device manager.

I've tried to re-intall OS several times with all components, installed all updates and drivers for all other devices, but no luck with scanner.
I also tried to connect old printer HP M1132MFP and got the same issue with it's scanner.
Do you know if HP printers require some specific component to be installed?

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

I understand you have issues in installing the printer software on your Mac Computer. Let us try the steps below in sequence to resolve the issue-

Restart the computer, printer, and router

Restarting network devices can resolve many network or communication errors.

NOTE:

The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections, and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before you continue.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the router.

  2. Turn off the printer.

  3. Close all running programs on your computer, including the HP software installation window, and then turn off the computer.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to the router, and then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.

  5. Turn on the printer.

  6. Turn on the computer.

  7. Try installing the HP software again.

    • If the install completes, the issue is resolved.

    • If the install fails, continue to the next step.

Uninstall the HP software

Some HP software components might have installed incorrectly, even if the driver and printer setup did not complete. Uninstall the HP software, then restart the Mac.

  1. Click Finder in the Dock.

  2. In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, and then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.

  3. Double-click HP Uninstaller, then follow the on-screen instructions to remove the HP software from the computer.

    NOTE:

If you have issues uninstalling the HP software, go to Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac) for more help.

Continue to the next step.

Reinstall the HP software

Go to the HP website to download and install the most current version of the Mac driver and software for your printer.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer. The software installation prompts you to connect the cable if needed.

  3. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.

  4. If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.

The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.

  5. If you need to change the operating system, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.

  6. Click Download next to HP Easy Start or next to the full feature driver, depending on the option that displays.

  7. Open the Downloads folder, and then open the HP Easy Start file or the full feature driver .dmg file to begin the installation.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer connection and install the software.

  9. If you are prompted to add the printer to the printer queue, click the name of your printer, click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu, and then click Add.

Select your printer name in the Use menu on the Add screen

  10. Return to the HP installer to complete the installation.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Restart the print spooler and try uninstalling the drivers-

Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.

Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.

Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.

Go to services again - Start the print spooler.

Now uninstall and reinstall the printer driver. Follow the steps below-

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for the HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Now, download and install the full-featured software from here.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help

Keep the printer under observation for a day or two. Let me know the outcome.

Hello,

Unfortunately, HP has not released a full version of printer software and drivers for Windows XP.

For Windows XP, the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) version 5.9.0 must be used, but HP recommends using the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) version 6.8.0 for your printer.

We can still try to install version 5.9.0 via one of the links below.

Please refer to your printer's manual available below.
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M329, M428-M429 - User Guide

In case of need, please do not hesitate to solicit us.

Best regards,🤠

Re: Updating firmware on HP LaserJet M1217nfw MFP printer (CE844A) - Compatibility and RFU setting

How would resetting the printer, that does not change the firmware, be able to add the RFU enable/disable feature (a software function contained in the printer's firmware) to the printer's EWS configuration interface (the software in the printer's firmware) given that the firmware has not change during the reset process? That's why I ask which firmware has the RFU feature included?

I recall, while setting up the printer, there was no option as to whether or not to include the RFU feature.  It's highly unlikely the RFU feature is suddenly going to disappear from the printer's EWS configuration interface.

TEJ1602 HP Support Agent TEJ1602 ‎01-16-2020 Re: cartridge compatibility @guillelko Print a printer status report and share a copy of it with us. To know how to print a status report refer to this video link. Also, before we proceed to perform the reset, I would like to know the following: Do you have a USB cable that connects the printer and the computer? It will be required to perform the regionalization. What is the Operating System installed on your computer? Do you have the full-featured software of the printer installed on your computer? Do you have both the old and the new ink cartridges with you? Keep me posted.

Thank you for your response,

I am unable to print because two of the old color cartridges are empty, are the printer will not allow me to print, even tough the black K cartridge still has some ink

I do have a USB printer cable

MAC OS Mojave 10.14.6

I have HP smart, HP Firmware updater, HP device manager, HP scan, HP Utility, HP Uninstaller

I have all the old and new cartridges, all the new ones are Z30's, the C, Y, M, old ones are Z10's, the K has no Z category, they are all genuine HP cartridges

Thank you again,

Guillermo

As of today, 1/16/2020, the link no longer works and takes you to and Error 404 message and refers you to Support Home or Diagnostic Solutions.  I had already selected restore defaults and am going to struggle on from there without directions.  So disappointed in how difficult getting the printer back after installing a new modem.

Upon checking I see that there is no full-featured software available for your printer. You can install the Windows built-in drivers to see if that helps.

Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'd like to know the following-

  • When you say get images, do you mean printing images? or making photocopies?
  • If printing, which application are you trying to print from?
  • What happens when you print regular text documents?

Keep me posted for further assistance.
