@pmochals, sorry that you are having a problem with connecting the printer USB.
It seems that you may have a few drivers on the computer, and it will not recognize the USB, because it thinks the software is already downloaded.
Next time you plug the USB cable in, listen to see if you can hear a sound that the computer recognizes the printer. You may also need another USB cable.
If you hear the sound, go to your devices and printer.
1. RIGHT CLICK on the printer
2. Choose Printer Properties
3. Select Ports
4. Scroll down and choose the USB port, and click APPLY.
5. Then try to print.

Do you receive an error message when you try to scan?
Are you scanning from the computer or the printer itself?
