I know several people with this problem.
The consensus is that that HP wants them to buy a new printer.
This is a common problem.
1. Get driver from windows update does not work.
It says searching for update, and locks up the computer.
Sometimes task manager will close the add printer dialog, sometimes you have to hold the power button unil the computer shuts off, and then power the computer back on.
The universal printer driver generally will not load.
Once after five tries I got it to load, and then it would print.
The performace drag was too much so I unloaded the driver.
Who wants a multi-megabyte driver running in the background sucking the life out of the processor.
Just post a windows 7 printer driver for the HP4000, and the other printers, on your website.
P.S. one of the people went out and bought another printer, and it wasn't an HP.
