CM1415fnw MFP keeps getting worse. First with scans, now with fax

Scarcely 5 years old, my CM1415fnw has been degrading over the past few years.  I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.  We have a home network (ethernet and wifi). The printer is connected wifi to the network.  Yes, I installed all the latest drivers and firmware.  I've unplugged my printer more times than I care to count.  Turned off every firewall trying to get things going.  It's the printer, not all of my computers.  Not trying to rant, just putting out some background.

 

First problem is that it will not scan to any of my home devices using the software via the computer.  It used to, but now no longer.  That includes my Windows 95 laptop on wifi, 2 Windows 7 PCs on ethernet, and 1 Windows 7 PC on wifi.  On all systems, I receive an error that the scanner is busy.  I can only scan locally to a thumbdrive in either a JPG or PDF. 

 

Second problem is that it now will not fax.  The copier will pull in the document.  It will dial the number (I tested by dialing my mobile phone number and having it ring).  It then keeps beeping as if the destination machine does not pick up.  I ran multiple tests where I confirmed the destination machine was up and online.  The printer did not seem to detect that the other machine answered.  So now, no fax.

 

Any help here would be great.  HP customer service is painful. If I have to purchase a replacement, it won't be HP.  Just can't take their service line anymore.  Thanks for your help here.
