I have an OfficeJet J6480 that has been working for several years. After Windows 7 did some critical updates around December of 2013. I started having error appear on the computer only and sometime printer would print but slowly and missing pixels. Other times, the printer will print correctly but the errors still appear on the computer screen. This sometimes causes the print job to error out and stop in middle.
I receive a multitude of errors on the computer: paper jam, carriage jammed, paper mismatch, non HP cartridge (but HP cartridges are installed), imcompatible cartridges, cartridges installed incorrectly, HP Solution Center says the printer is disconnected but windows sees it and I can get communication to print. I can scan also when it says it is disconnected.
I tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall and it would not reinstall it would give me a runtime error C++. So I rolled back to before the udpates so that the printer would work. Let it do the critical updates and am back at this state.
I have ran the HP tool to validate that my drivers are up to date and according to it, I have the latest.
The errors do not appear unless I try and print.
Again, nothing appears on the printer only on my PC.
