Let's see if I can get this correct. We have had an Officejet 6500 E709n for a couple of years but for some reason, about a week ago, none of my programs could find the printer. Thinking it was a wireless problem, I tried everything dealing with the connections and the hardware to no avail.
I uninstalled the driver thinking it was a driver issue and this is where the real problems started. I went the HP site downloaded the correct driver for win 7 64 bit - OJ6500vE709_Full_14 and proceded to install it. I got the "The installer cannot acces this registry key. Please ensure that the installer has access to the registry and click retry to continue installation." I disabled the virus protection, tried again, and still got the message.
I then found several forums explaining the ctrl-shift-"cancel" solution, which I tried. I got a FATAL ERROR and it crashed out on me. The program then placed a "solution" on my desktop, it tried to restart and then crashed out again. I am at a complete loss here. please help.
