Windows 7 Driver for Color Laserjet 2605dn is PostScript Only -- Has Specific Issues

This network-connected printer runs fine under XP SP3 with a PCL driver downloaded from HP (5 or 6, I don't remember).  New computer has 64-bit Windows 7.  Now HP is telling me to use the built-in Windows 7 driver (see http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02536257-15%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken), but all I can find is PS, no PCL.  This driver works OK except on certain types of documents:

Printing a scanned document takes forever, if it prints at all.

Similarly for PDF pages that have background colors or anythign else unusual.

(I could send examples of problem pages it that would help...)

I can print these same documents easily and quickly on my XP computer with the PCL driver, so I'm assuming PS just chokes on these kinds of documents.

Is there an appropriate PCL driver for Windows 7 64-bit (or could I run a suitable 32-bit driver in my situation)?

Failing that, is there any other solution to this problem?  (I can't keep a Windows XP computer around forever!) -- jclarkw
