Hello Bernie1225, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you are having issues with your printer freezing.  I would like to try and help.

First, I would suggest performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

I would also suggest checking out this document on Wireless printing center Troubleshooting Issues.

Finally, there is an important update to run for your printer.  Start by going to HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g Drivers page.  Select your operating system from the dropdown box.  If you need assistance finding what operating system, you can follow this links:
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

Once you have selected your operating system, click 'next'. Scroll down until you see a hader marked 'firmware'.  Select that, download and run the file.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
