Hello cwr64,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you restarted the computer, a pop up indicated installing drivers for USB connection and your printer. I will do my best to assist you! Sometimes, you can experience this on a Windows computer if you have a USB cord plugged into the computer when it starts. This doesn't mean the Photosmart 7520 installation has a problem. I would recommend deleting the copy in your Devices and Printers:
1) Click on your Start Menu, then Devices and Printers
2) Right Click on the Photosmart 7520 (Copy 1) and select remove device
3) Now, you should only have one printer, right click on this and select set as default
Yes, you will have a generic fax machine install in Devices and Printer because the software comes with a built in fax software. You can delete this, if you're not using the fax feature. (However, if you do delete and wish to use Fax software in the future, you will have to reinstall the entire printer software package.)
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
