I understand your Deskjet 1000 printer is no longer printing in black after a Windows 8.1 update. Yes there are drivers available, seen here HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers.
I would suggest troubleshooting this as a "Print Quality" issue, as the black is missing.
