This tool is very helpful in finding and fixing problems on its own. If it cannot fix the problem it will prompt you on which steps to take next.
Since you mentioned you are able to print after installing the software and drivers, you may want to read into this page on scanning: Scan
Simply select your computer's operating system and follow the instructions from there.
