We have new windows 8.1, 64 bit laptop. The HP install wizard identifies and communicates with our network printer (HP officejet 4500 wireless all-in-one G510N) then dowloads and extracts the appropriate driver files. I've downloaded the Install Wizard, Driver Files and the Diagnostics tools but they always die at the same point - when it completes extracting the files the wizard box disappears and a system error box opens with the following text:
"visual c++ run time library, program:c:\users\simon\appdata\local\temp\7zs3cde\setup.exe, This application has requested run time to terminate in unusual way."
Then the IW starts over again and downloads/extracts the driver files again.
I've seen several other postings on this site with same printer model and laptop OS issue (driver download leads to run time error) but I have not seen any solutions yet.
I originally posted this in the wrong board so hoping for better luck on this board.
