Thanks for your help, but I already got it to install by using the Install Wizard found under "diagnostics and utilities" (or something like that) listed below the option for "download now". It performed flawlessly (all 300-some MB) and worked just like one would expect it to (in other words, just like installing from a CD that comes with a new printer). HP should really put that option "front and center" rather than the raw download - I mean, who is going to think to look under "diagnostics and utilities"; most people are just going to see "start download now", click on that, and get frustrated like I did. I only found the wizard by chance, out of frustration. I think most users are like me, they just want a quick, easy and idiot-proof way to get their printer to work. We're not into manipulating files or refreshing / re-installing operating systems. Keep it simple for us Luddites.
