Re: Known issues with drivers and operation of the Officejet Pro 8600?

Hi PTCA

I am sorry that this has been an unpleasant experience. I would be happy to help you resolve this issue.

First and foremost there may be a firmware update available for your printer. Some of the enhancements available with this firmware update are as follows,

1) Enhance ePrint Diagnostic report for ePrint Setup
2) Improve ease of wireless setup
3) Enhanced Embedded Web Services
4) Improve Print Quality
5) Improve Ink Usage
6) Improve paper path performance
7) Improve Digital scan performance

Please check your printers current version using the steps below,

1. From the Control panel, press Help (?) button, select Printer Information

2. Use the down arrow button to scroll to the 2nd screen

3. The current firmware revision will appear on the screen

4. If your current version is NOT CLP1CN1322CR please select your printer below and download the Firmware updater

OJP8600_N911g-n_R1322C.exe

OJP8600_N911a_R1322C.exe

I also wonder, do you have the printer connected to a wall outlet for power or a surge protector?

Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector

In this document you will see,

ISSUE:

Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector

This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

I hope this helps. If you do the update and continue to experience issues, or if your printer is already  up to date please post back and let me know.
