I'm having a headache with the universal driver. I was with HP PCL5 5.5 drivers for all my printers. Everything was working fine except laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Edition. These refused to install those drivers. I decided to upgrade to 5.7. Now, they can install it but for an unknown reason, paper size was changed in that version.
I used to have 11x17 (default paper size in server). Now, this format is replaced with is equivalent in mm. This give bug with some program, like autocad. Autocad 2014, when selecting this format and printing, send in 11x17, but printer says it's 11x17.3, thus request for paper change. When printing with same paper size in something like pdf creator, it output real 11x17 and can be printed on the same printer without any problem.
I tried installing the PS equivalent, 5.8, but then, those doesn't have Legal, Letter and normal paper size.
Also, now, I have Letter, Letter US, Letter US( mm x mm), Légal, Legal US, Legal US (mm x mm)..... It's really stupid to have new paper format added that simply give headache to users. Why not just use the one built-in windows that are working properly?
