Hi rmonk,
I would certainly like to see this resolved, if you are willing to work with me despite my failed first attempt, I believe we can. :)
This may take some patience on your part and some back and forth with me, I would first like to know what exactly happens when you try to scan using Apple System Preferences.
- Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
- Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences
- Click Print & Scan .
- Click your printer in the left pane.
- Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
- Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to change scan settings.Figure 1: Example of the Show Details scanning screenImage may be NSFW.
Clik here to view. - Change any scan settings as necessary, and then click ScanDo you get an error message, if so what does it say?is the printer connected with a USB cable or is it communicating with the computer over a wireless network?Keep in mind, you will not be able to download and/or install full feature software that includes the HP Scan, the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU). You can still print and scan using the Apple software.I look forward to hearing from you.
