Hi xxxsenatorxxx,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you were able to install the printer but you are getting a additional driver in devices and printers. I will be happy to help you. I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software and from the printer server properties. Here is how you can go about this:
- Go to start, devices and printers.
- Highlight any printer.
- Choose print server properties across the top.
- Click on the drivers tab at the top of print server properties window.
- Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click remove.
- Choose remove driver package.
- The next screen will give you a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system.
- Click yes to say that you are sure you want to do this.
- Then in the devices and printers window.
- . Right click your printer and remove or delete.
- . Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.
- . Go to start, computer.
- . Right click on the CD for the printer.
- . Left click on open in new window.
- . Double click on the uninstall.
- . Reboot the computer.
Now that we have uninstalled the printer successfully, we want to reinstall the software correctly. To do this follow the steps below:
- Download the appropriate printer software. Here is the HP LaserJet Pro P1102 Printer Drivers (USB only) and here is the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer support (wireless/USB).
- Select the operating system and click next.
The driver didn't install successfully so what I have had you do is uninstall and reinstall the correctly.
I believe that this will provide a resolution to your issue. Thank you.
