you might try:

1. Set up a manual static IP address for the printer and the router.

YES, THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS DONE WHEN THE WIFI PROBLEMS OCCURRED.

Then you might have to go to your router and assign the IP address (192.168.1.150 ni the example above) to the printer.

Rather than assigning an IP address in the router, the fixed IP address selected is outside of the range of the router DHCP.... specifically the DHCP is 192.168.0.100 thru 192.168.0 150

the FIXED IP address of the router is set to 192.168.0.20

2. Use wireless direct.

Go to wifi->settings->On with security.

You can then see the display name and password.

Basically this turns the printer into a wireless beacon and computers and devices can connect to the printer as if they were connecting to a wifi router. I admit this solution is sub-optimal as it requires you to disconnect from the current wifi router you are on.

VERY sub-optimal and no different than connecting thru a USB cable.  An extremely used feature of the 7520 e is eliminated if using either the "wireless direct" or USB cable... which is the ability to select from the front panel of the 7520 a SCAN which will send directly to an email address.   This feature requires that the printer is connected thru a router.

3. Try a "restore networks defaults" in hte wifi->settings option and then reconnect.

An interesting idea that had not yet been tried; however, there were no beneficial results... see below...

What I tried again was the following:

1.  removed all 7520 software from the computer...driver, help, etc

2.  executed a "restore network defaults" as suggested.

3.  manually set the IP address of the printer to 192.168.0.20

4.  re-installed the

the 7520 software.

Again, the printer functioned O.K. for a brief period of time.  However, after approximately 1/2 day, the printer again experienced errors.

When trying to utilize the HP destop software to scan from the 7520, the following error was reported:

twain_scan_error.jpg

Of course, none of the suggestions given in the error screen removed the error.

The HP "Print and Scan Doctor" software was again run, and the same 2 errors were reported (as previously described):

driver_check_error.jpg

driver_&_twain_error.jpg

This error is INTERMITTANT.  Sometimes the HP desktop software scan function will work O.K.

Also please note that when accessing the 7520 thru the embedded web server (a web page addressing 192.168.0.20),

the scan function available on the web server interface always appears operational.

The problem is that I do not know which set of drivers is utilized for the web server scan function... it may not be either of the two that are showing the error from the "Print and Scan Doctor" software.

Finally, one additional configuration setting that was tried...

per other support forum postings, it has been indicated that there was an issue with UpNP operation with the 7520.

On one post it suggested turning off UpNP on the 7520 settings.  On another post, it suggested turning off UpNP on the router.

UpNP was turned off on the router, then on the 7520, then on BOTH the router and the 7520.  The error still appeared.

HP... any help would be appreciated!
