I've been trying for two days now to get the full software package for my Photosmart C6280 all in one to install properly on two computers, a desktop, that I built years ago, AMD Sempron Processor 3000+ 1.80ghz, that the software once worked properly on when originally installed and HP Pavilion g series laptop AMD A6-3420m APU 1.5 ghz. The printer has always and is now networked. There are four computers on the network 2 Windows Vista, 1 Windows 7, the laptop, and 1 running the Ubuntu Linux OS. They all can access the printer on the network and printing works with them all. The two Vista machine had the Full Software package installed and for a long  time everything worked as it should. Recently I had to scan an email a document to someone and I discovered that niether Vista macine would scan through the network or open the Solution Center. The error states - No HP devices have been detected. HP Solution Center will close on both machines. The Ubuntu machine works perfectly scanning and printing or whatever from the software interface, but its not using HP's Windows software. I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software on both Vista machines. The software installs on both including reinstalling the printers but fails at 96% saying it can't find a service. All the pertinent HP services are installed from what I can tell. Today I uninstalled the software from both Vista machines and using an advanced registry editor removed all references to HP and Hewlett-Packard from the registry. There was no change on either machine! I then downloaded and tried to install the Windows 7 full software version on the laptop, which I had never done. To my suprise it fails shortly after startup, never even begins the install. I've been reading all day today and most of yesterday, two days wasted working on this. I am not a Newbie, I'm a retired Computer Tech / Consultant with over 40 years experience, that specialized in networking devices and machines.  I very seldom run into a problem I can't solve, but far so all i found by researching this problem is a large number of people frustrated with HP and Microsoft. An righly so, because niether have seemed to solved this problem and I've read posts all the way back to 2009 about it on both sites.  Does anyone here have any idea as to a resolution for this problem of HP printer software not working with the latest versions of Windows? Is HP trying to force us to buy new printers when our old one still work? Any Ideas not already posted here, because none of them have worked for me? Last I like to say HP your support system sucks!!! For the last few years I have encouraged clients to buy your products to get more bang for their buck. But after this experience never again!!!!!!!
