Thank you - i ultimatly tossed the laser jet III. I was unable to get a proper driver, or get the computer to recognise the existence of the printer. The easiest way out was to buy a new printer, and so I did. Even that was challenging, because I didn't want a printer with a scanner, fax, copy rig, all I wanted was a printer. They are a dying breed. Eventually I got one, after wasting hours on line reading reviews. Boy, how things change.
