I can certainly sympathize with your feeling of disappointed. At this point, if the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet, there is not much else to do.
If you are willing to consider upgrading to a newer model I suggest contacting HP phone support. HP may offer you a discount on a newer model. The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
